11. Investigation of electrical and magnetic properties of nanoparticles and nanofibers with the aim to tailor material properties of nanocomposites
Sammanfattning : Nanocomposites are the subject of interest in this study which can be explained by the factum that using building blocks with dimensions in the nanosize range makes it possible to design and create new materials which can satisfy several functions at the same time for many applications. The applications of interest in this study belong to the microwave frequency region and for that reason a number of materials were investigated to define their microwave absorbing properties. LÄS MER
12. Image-based quantitative infrared analysis and microparticle characterisation for pulp and paper applications
Sammanfattning : Measurements of process variations and particle morphology are widely employed in the pulp and paper industry. Two techniques with high potential, infrared thermography and microparticle characterisation, are mainly used qualitatively. LÄS MER
13. Pharmaceutical Nanocomposites : Structure–Mobility–Functionality Relationships in the Amorphous State
Sammanfattning : Amorphous materials are found in pharmaceutical formulations both as excipients and active ingredients. Indeed, these formulations are becoming an essential strategy for incorporating drugs into well-performing solid dosage forms. LÄS MER
14. Development of strength and heat of hydration of young concrete at low temperature - influence of granulated blast furnace slag, silica and limestone
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this licentiate thesis was carried out within the project task Use of industrial by-products and filler in concrete, part Early-age strength development at low temperatures in concrete with mineral additions/fillers. To improve the understanding and to increase the data available, the study investigated the development of compressive strength and heat of hydration while curing at 5°C compared with curing at 20°C. 15. Hydrolytic degradation of dental composites and effects of silane-treatment and filler fraction on compressive strength and thermal expansion of composites
Sammanfattning : Some researchers have suggested that the weakest link of dental composites is the filler-matrix bond. However, due to incompleteness of information dealing with this bond and its stability in a humid environment, it was considered desirable to investigate the effect of water on this region, as well as the influence of filler bonding and filler fraction on compressive strength and thermal expansionExperimental composites containing different filler fractions of either silane-treated or untreated fillers were made.
