    Sammanfattning : Soft x-ray microscopy in the water-window (λ = 2.28 nm – 4.36 nm) is based on zone-plate optics and allows high-resolution imaging of, e.g. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development of Nonlinear Microscopy for Studies of Metabolism and Tissue Engineering

    Författare :Madeleine Åkeson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; imaging; bacterial cellulose; nonlinear microscopy; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; yeast; C. elegans; Microscopy; lipid storage;

    Sammanfattning : Nonlinear microscopy techniques provide abilities for noninvasive and selective imaging of structural and chemical properties of biological systems. These techniques include coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy with the ability to selectively image molecular vibrations, second harmonic generation (SHG) microscopy which selectively images fiber structures, and third harmonic generation (THG) microscopy which is sensitive to interfaces between materials with different optical properties. 4. 4. Phase-Contrast and High-Resolution Optics for X-Ray Microscopy

    Författare :Olof von Hofsten; Ulrich Vogt; Ian McNulty; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Microscopy; X-ray optics; X-ray microscopy; Soft X-ray physics; Optics; Optik; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : X-ray microscopy is a well-established technique for nanoscale imaging. Zone plates are used as microscope objectives and provide high resolution, approaching 10 nm, currently limited by fabrication issues. This Thesis presents zone plate optics that achieve either high resolution or phase contrast in x-ray microscopy. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Automating STED microscopy for functional and structural live-cell imaging

    Författare :Jonatan Alvelid; Ilaria Testa; Giuseppe Vicidomini; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; STED; microscopy; nanoscopy; super-resolution microscopy; automation; image analysis; fluorophores; Biologisk fysik; Biological Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Optical microscopy imaging methods are today invaluable tools for studies in life sciences as they allow visualization of biological systems, tissues, cells, and sub-cellular compartments from millimetres down to nanometres. The invention and development of nanoscopy in the past 20 years has pushed fluorescence microscopy down to the nanoscale, reaching beyond the natural diffraction limit of light that does not allow focusing of visible light below sizes of around 200 nm, and into the realm of what was previously only thought possible with electron microscopy.
