    Sammanfattning : The aim of this doctoral thesis was to study neuropsychological function in relation to structural and functional brain changes in Alzheimer´s disease (AD). In the first study relations between hippocampal volume, neuropsychological function and limbic-hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (LHPA) axis disturbances in AD were investigated with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).     Sammanfattning : Background: Approximately a third of all stroke patients develop spatial neglect, a debilitating symptom associated with poor outcome.     Sammanfattning : Muscle weakness is one of the major causes of post-stroke disability. Stroke rehabilitation programs now often incorporate the same type of resistance training that is used for healthy subjects; however, the training effects induced from these training strategies are often limited for stroke patients.
