  1. 1. An integrative strategy for targeted evaluation of biomarker expression in non-small cell lung cancer

    Författare :Johanna Mattsson; Patrick Micke; Johan Botling; Fredrik Pontén; Åslaug Helland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; non-small cell lung cancer; prognostic biomarkers; predictive biomarkers; immunohistochemistry; gene expression; COX-2; claudin; ALK; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Despite improvements in therapy, the prognosis for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients remains poor, and cure is only possible in localized tumors after surgical resection. A new generation of targeted cancer drugs has led to the expectation that lung cancer therapy can be significantly improved, but these drugs are today only an option in a small subset of NSCLC patients, and their effect is temporary. 2. 2. Liquid metal microscale deposition for soft and stretchable skin-like electronics : Providing a soft and gentle contact to living beings

    Författare :Bei Wang; Klas Hjort; Zhigang Wu; Magnus Berggren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; laser patterning; sacrificial mask; liquid metal; strain sensor; skin movement; masking; shrink film; 3D conformal masking; liquid metal particles; soft electronics; stretchable electronics; compliant electronics; skin-like electronics; epidermal electronics; micro-heater; particle sintering; enteroendocrine cells; localized ectopic expression; wettability; flexography printing; conformal transfer printing; hydro printing; plant physiology; drosophila;

    Sammanfattning : Skin-like electronics could provide a soft and gentle contact with living beings for perceiving and delivering the information of pressure, strain, temperature with higher spatial resolution and sensitivity than our skin, without disturbing the user. Gallium-based liquid metal (LM) is an excellent material for soft and stretchable skin-like devices, since it has high electrical and thermal conductivity, flowability, and self-healable capability. 3. 3. HDZip I Transcription Factors in Arabidopsis thaliana : Expression and Function in Relation to Environmental Stress Conditions

    Författare :Anna S. B. Olsson; Peter Engström; Eva Söderman; Pieter B. F. Ouwerkerk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; homeodomain leucine zipper; ABA; transcription factor; water deficit; Arabidopsis thaliana; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : The homeodomain leucine zipper (HDZip) proteins constitute a plant-specific family of transcription factors, that based on sequence criteria have been grouped into four classes, HDZip I-IV. This thesis describes the phylogeny, function, expression patterns and regulation of the HDZip class I genes in the model species Arabidopsis thaliana. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Xylem cells cooperate in the control of lignification and cell death during plant vascular development

    Författare :Sacha Escamez; Hannele Tuominen; Andrew Groover; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Xylem; Arabidopsis; programmed cell death; tracheary element; xylem vessel; autophagy; metacaspase; lignin; secondary cell wall; chromatin; gene expression;

    Sammanfattning : The evolutionary success of land plants was fostered by the acquisition of the xylem vascular tissue which conducts water and minerals upwards from the roots. The xylem tissue of flowering plants is composed of three main types of cells: the sap-conducting tracheary elements (TE), the fibres which provide mechanical support and the parenchyma cells which provide metabolic support to the tissue. 5. 5. Regulation of tissue factor expression in myeloid and monocytic leukaemia cells

    Författare :Taavo Tenno; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; tissue factor; blood coagulation; monocytes; cell differentiation; retinoic acid; vitamin D3; acute promyelocytic leukaemia; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Tissue factor (TF) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that initiates the blood coagulation cascade and is also involved in cell migration, tumour metastasis and angiogenesis. Pathologic expression of tissue factor by monocytes contributes to several thrombotic complications like acute coronary artery disease and disseminated intravascular coagulation. LÄS MER
