11. Generating Dendritic Cells by Direct Cell Reprogramming. Merging cellular reprogramming with immunology towards the development of novel cancer immunotherapies
Sammanfattning : Cell fate reprogramming towards pluripotency or alternative somatic cell-types has highlighted the plasticity of adult somatic cells, providing new technologies to generate desired cell types for tissue repair or for disease modeling. There is momentum to bring these concepts to immunology by specifying unique immune cellular identities that set in motion immune responses. LÄS MER
12. Moleculary imprinted micro- and nanoparticles for cancer associated glycan motifs
Sammanfattning : Sialic acids are an important family of monosaccharides that are typically found as terminal moieties of glycans. Aberrant sialylation has been proven to correlate with various diseases including cancer. Glycosylation analysis is complex due to high diversityof the glycan isomers and their low abundance. LÄS MER
13. Atom Probe Tomography Investigations of Biologically Relevant Nanoparticles
Sammanfattning : The study of materials at the nanoscale is essential in many scientific disciplines. For example, in materials science the size of the building blocks of a material is directly linked to its properties. LÄS MER
14. Hormone-Sensitive Lipase and Protein Kinase B; Molecular characterization in testis, adipose tissue and pancreatic beta cells
Sammanfattning : Hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) and protein kinase B (PKB) are enzymes that in different ways are associated with lipid metabolism. While HSL is the well-known lipolytic enzyme responsible for hydrolysis of stored triacylglycerols in adipose tissue, PKB is a recently identified serine/threonine protein kinase, ubiquitously expressed and involved in signal transduction pathways induced by insulin and growth factors. 15. Systeminriktad prevention av järnvägssjälvmord : Strategiutveckling i en svensk kontext
Sammanfattning : Railway suicide constitutes a limited but significant fraction of all suicides, and a majority of all railway-related deaths, in Sweden as well as in many other countries. The aim of this thesis is to develop the scientific basis for the prevention of railway suicide, with special regard to knowledge and strategies within the reach of the railway system owners themselves.
