  1. 1. Functional studies of a membrane-anchored cellulase from poplar

    Författare :Ulla Jonsson Rudsander; Tuula Teeri; Eva Nordberg-Karlsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Populus; cellulose biosynthesis; endo-1; 4-b-glucanase; cellulase; Pichia pastoris; Arabidopsis thaliana; NMR spectroscopy; cleavage pattern; stereochemistry; transglycosylation; complementation; hybrid proteins; overexpression; substrate analysis; overglycosylation; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Cellulose in particular and wood in general are valuable biomaterials for humanity, and cellulose is now also in the spotlight as a starting material for the production of biofuel. Understanding the processes of wood formation and cellulose biosynthesis could therefore be rewarding, and genomics and proteomics approaches have been initiated to learn more about wood biology. 2. 2. Development and application of strategies for the analysis of modification patterns in chondroitin and dermatan sulphate

    Författare :Fang Cheng; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; reumatologi; muskelsystem; Skelett; Glycosaminoglycan; Proteoglycan; Chondroitin sulphate; dermatan sulphate; Sequencing analysis; Modification pattern.; Skeleton; rheumatology locomotion; muscle system; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : Chondroitin (CS) and dermatan sulphate (DS) are socalled glycosaminoglycans (GAG) that are covalently attached to various type of proteins forming a subgroup within the diverse proteoglycan (PG) family. The PGs studied in this thesis are mostly extracellularly located and include aggrecan, biglycan and decorin. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Recognition by leukocyte formyl peptide receptors. Promiscuous binding or pattern recognition?

    Författare :Johan Bylund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :neutrophils; chemoattractant; FPRL1; NADPH-oxidase; LPS; priming; subcellular organelles; human; murine;

    Sammanfattning : Neutrophil granulocytes play an important role in the early stages of microbial infection. The neutrophils have to leave the blood stream and migrate out into the tissue where they phagocytose microbes and cell debris from damaged host tissues. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Aspects of Antisense and Antigene Chemistry of Oligonucleotides Tethered to Intercalators

    Författare :Dimitri Ossipov; Jesper Wengel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioorganic chemistry; oligonucleotides; intercalators; ruthenium complexes; RNase H cleavage; photocross-linkage; Bioorganisk kemi; Bioorganic chemistry; Bioorganisk kemi; bioorganisk kemi; Biorganic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Synthetic and physicochemical studies on appropriately functionalized ODN-conjugates have been performed to evaluate their abilities to act as antisense agents against RNA or as intramolecular DNA cross-linking agents. Intercalating aromatic systems [phenazine (Pnz), dipyridophenazine (DPPZ)] and metallointercalators such as Ru2+(phen)2(DPPZ) and Ru2+(tpy)(DPPZ)L [where L = chemically or photochemically labile ligand, phen = phenanthroline, tpy = terpyridine], which are covalently tethered to the oligo-deoxynucleotides (ODNs), have been chosen for this purpose. 5. 5. Aspects of priapulid development

    Författare :Sofia A Wennberg; Graham Budd; Lars Holmer; Ralf Janssen; Prpic Nikola; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Earth sciences; Priapulus caudatus; Priapulida; Ecdysozoa; larval development; embryology; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The phylum Priapulida is a small group of marine worms that is allied with the nematodes, kinorhynchs, loriciferans and nematomorphs in a clade called the Cycloneuralia or Introverta. Together with the arthropods they are generally considered to comprise the Ecdysozoa, a clade of moulting animals. LÄS MER
