1. Cognitive erosion and its implications in Alzheimer’s disease
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present thesis was twofold, first to map the semantic memory decline in Alzheimer patients over time, second to take the patient’s perspective and create a multifaceted picture of the individual with Alzheimer’s disease through the study of memory, awareness, central coherence and emotions. Further issues concerned how Alzheimer individuals handled their cognitive erosion in everyday life and if they were well calibrated with their spouse in disease related matters. LÄS MER
2. Electrophysiology and optical coherence tomography in acquired and hereditary retinal disorders
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, retinal function in general, as well as central retinal function and structure are described in selected forms of acquired and hereditary retinal disorders, in order to improve our understanding of underlying pathogenic mechanisms. This comparison has been made possible during the last years, through the relatively recent development of multifocal ERG (mfERG) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) for the analysis of central retinal function and structure, respectively. 3. Attosecond interferometry: techniques and spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The interaction between an intense laser pulse and a gas medium leads to the emission of coherent bursts of light in the extreme ultraviolet range. This process, known as high-order harmonic generation, has today, almost three decades after its discovery, developed into a reliable source of extremely short (on the order of 100 as) pulses of electromagnetic radiation, with a wide range of applications in the atomic, molecular and optical sciences. 4. High-Density Electromyography-Based Methods for Joint Torque Prediction and Motor Unit Behavior Observation
Sammanfattning : Electromyography (EMG) is a technique that measures the electrical activity of muscles. It reflects muscle activation and provides an interface to the central nervous system at the level of the muscle or individual motor units, which helps us understand the mechanisms of muscle force production, control, and coordination.
