  1. 21. Multiscale X-ray Characterisation of Cellulose-based Solid Dispersions

    Författare :Martina Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PXCT; WAXS; pharmaceutical formulations; multiscale characterisation; STXM; radiation damage; SAXS; X-ray imaging; solid dispersions; cellulose;

    Sammanfattning : Cellulose-based solid dispersions are a promising formulation strategy for providing controlled drug release and dissolution enhancement of poorly soluble drugs. These dispersions can from structures on multiple length scales which can have both positive and negative effects on the functional properties of the formulation. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Percutaneous Balloon Compression for the Treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia

    Författare :Pär Asplund; A. Tommy Bergenheim; Patric Blomstedt; Marc Sindou; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; trigeminal neuralgia; multiple sclerosis; surgery; percutaneous balloon compression; percutaneous retrogasserian glycerol rhizolysis; neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Sammanfattning : Background. Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a paroxysmal unilateral facial pain condition. That it is rather rare is of little comfort to those who are affected, as TN is often described as one of the worst pains known to mankind. Advanced age and multiple sclerosis (MS) are risk factors for developing TN. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Posterior ocular malformations in children : teratological aspects

    Författare :Kristina Teär Fahnehjelm; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Teratology; ocular malformations; visual impairment; anti-epileptic drugs; congenital infection; optic nerve hypoplasia; coloboma; magnetic resonance imaging; neonatal cholestasis; dried blood spots;

    Sammanfattning : Posterior ocular malformations are common causes of visual impairment in Swedish children. The most frequent diagnoses within this group are optic nerve hypoplasia and optic nerve/chorioretinal coloboma. Genetic factors, teratogens like medical/addictive drugs or congenital infections and unknown factors may cause these malformations. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Possibilities of dried blood spots as a matrix in therapeutic drug monitoring of antiepileptic drugs in children

    Författare :Camilla Linder; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : For children with epilepsy, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) is essential for treatment. TDM monitoring requires two visits to a health care unit, first for collection of the blood sample before the morning dose and a few days later the family will travel once again to see the pediatrician. 5. 25. Mortality in epilepsy : epidemiological studies with emphasis on sudden unexpected death and suicide

    Författare :Lena Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this study was to create, through an increase in knowledge, the preconditions for reducing epilepsy patients' significantly increased mortality The main aim was to identify clinical characteristics of patients in a large cohort of adult patients with a diagnosis of epilepsy who had a) undergone sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), or b) committed suicide. Another aim of this study was to describe overall and cause specific mortality in this cohort. LÄS MER
