1. Mesoporous Silica Formed with Triblock Copolymers
Sammanfattning : The formation of highly ordered mesoporous silica materials, using PEO-PPO-PEO amphiphilic triblock copolymers (so-called Pluronics) as structure directing agents, has been studied. The materials are formed through the addition of a silica source to a polymer solution of low concentration (2.5 wt ) under acidic conditions. LÄS MER
2. Effect of hydration on thermodynamic, rheological and structural properties of mucin
Sammanfattning : Mucus, an adherent hydrated layer covering the epithelium, is found in all internal tracts of the body and plays an important role in animal and human life. One of the essential functions of mucus is protection of tissues against dehydration. LÄS MER
3. X-Ray Diagnostics in Combustion - Study of Particle Formation in Flames Using Combined Small- and Wide-Angle X-Ray Scattering
Sammanfattning : In the thesis work, two X-ray scattering techniques, small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS and WAXS) were combined to study particle formation in-situ and non-intrusively in ethylene laboratory flames. Combining these two techniques enabled information concerning the size and concentration as well as the subnanometer structure of the nanoparticles within the 1–100 nm range there to be obtained. 4. Peering Beyond the Noise in Experimental Biophysical Data
Sammanfattning : Experimental protein structure determination methods make up a fundamental part of our understanding of biological systems. Manual interpretation of the output from these methods has been made obsolete by the sheer size and complexity of the acquired data. LÄS MER
5. Swelling and Microstructure of Nanoplatelet Systems
Sammanfattning : Many clay minerals consist of charged nanoplatelets that swell in an aqueous solution. The swelling and the microstructure depend on the type of clay mineral but are also dependent on, for example, the ionic composition and the temperature of the solution. LÄS MER
