  1. 1. X-Ray Diagnostics in Combustion - Study of Particle Formation in Flames Using Combined Small- and Wide-Angle X-Ray Scattering

    Författare :Linda Vallenhag; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanoparticles; soot particles; WAXS; X-ray scattering; SAXS; combustion; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Vallenhag;

    Sammanfattning : In the thesis work, two X-ray scattering techniques, small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS and WAXS) were combined to study particle formation in-situ and non-intrusively in ethylene laboratory flames. Combining these two techniques enabled information concerning the size and concentration as well as the subnanometer structure of the nanoparticles within the 1–100 nm range there to be obtained. 2. 2. X-ray free-electron laser based methods for structural and ultrafast dynamics studies of a photosynthetic reaction centre

    Författare :David Arnlund; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :WAXS; wide-angle x-ray scattering; XFEL; x-ray free-electron laser; reaction center; structural biology; ultrafast dynamics;

    Sammanfattning : Life on earth is fuelled by the energy of sunlight, which must first be captured and converted into a chemical energy form useful to the cell. This process is known as photosynthesis and the major pathway of this energy conversion is via photosynthetic reaction centres. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Plant aquaporin regulation: Structural and functional studies using diffraction and scattering techniques

    Författare :Michael Järvå; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :X-ray Crystallography; Membrane protein; Plasma membrane intrinsic protein; Aquaporin; pH gating; mercury; proteoliposome assay; water transport; SANS; SAXS; WAXS; nanodisc; liposome;

    Sammanfattning : Water is the basis for life as we know it. It is only logical then that all organisms have evolved specialized proteins, aquaporins, which regulate water flow across their membranes. Plants, which are immobile, depend more on their environment and also use water flows to move, to breathe, and to grow. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Time Resolved Diffraction Studies of Structural Changes in Sensory Rhodopsin

    Författare :Robert Bosman; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :Rhodopsin; SRII; SRII-HtrII; Time-resolved crystallography; Time-resolved wide angle x-ray scattering; TR-X; TR-WAXS; Serial crystallography;

    Sammanfattning : Responding to different light conditions is an essential process for many organisms on earth. Unicellular organisms are no exception to this and mechanisms for controlling cellular movement must often be sensitive to light. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mechanical behaviour of hardwoods : effects from cellular and cell wall structures
