1. Stromal components and micro-RNAs as biomarkers in pancreatic cancer
Sammanfattning : Background Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients have the poorest 5-year survival rates of all cancer forms. It is difficult to diagnose at early disease stages, tumour relapse after surgery is common, and current chemotherapies are ineffective. LÄS MER
2. Role of Wnt5a in Prostate Cancer
Sammanfattning : Wnt5a is a non-canonical secreted glycoprotein of the Wnt family that plays important roles in organ development and tissue orientation. Previous studies have reported that Wnt5a was upregulated at both mRNA and protein levels in prostate cancer, but information regarding its role in predicting clinical outcome in patients after radical prostatectomy is limited. 3. To predict results of breast cancer therapy
Sammanfattning : We have used the almost complete national Swedish Cancer register, regional quality management register and one randomized adjuvant endocrine trial to study, the effect of radiotherapy in breast cancer with 1-3 positive nodes (study 1), the effect of tamoxifen in estrogen receptor (ER)-positive tumors depending on expression of the progesterone receptor (PR) (studies 2 and 4) and the development of the survival rates of breast cancer in Sweden 1989-2013 (study 3) Study 1. We compared relative breast cancer survival in two Swedish health care regions that between 1989 and 2006 had different guidelines for postoperative radiotherapy. LÄS MER
4. The expression and molecular functions of LRIG proteins in cancer and psoriasis
Sammanfattning : The leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains (LRIG) family consists of three integral membrane proteins that are important in human cancer. LRIG1 is a negative regulator of growth factor signaling. Its expression is associated with longer survival in several cancer types, and the gene has been shown to function as a tumor suppressor. 5. PKB/Akt kinase localization and role in stemness maintenance in cancer
Sammanfattning : Cancer incidence rates have increased over the last decade. Currently available therapies are only moderately effective in targeting cancer cells. Established cancer treatment protocols fail to eliminate populations of cancer stem cells (CSCs), which develop resistance against the chemotherapeutic drugs and lead to cancer recurrence. LÄS MER
