  1. 11. Molecular Characterization of Experimental Traumatic Brain Injury

    Författare :Charlotte Israelsson; Ted Ebendal; Lars Hillered; Anders Lewén; Henrik Hagberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Neurosciences; traumatic brain injury; transcripts; GeneChip; chemokine; inflammation; mouse brain; neuroprotection; neuronal injury; neuroregeneration; astrocytosis; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is the most common cause of mortality and disability in the younger (.... LÄS MER

  2. 12. An animal model of sport related concussive brain injury

    Författare :Hayde Bolouri; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :animal model; football; concussion; brain injury; neuropathology; cognitive function;

    Sammanfattning : A new animal model for concussion of the type seen in professional football was developed, since current animal models did not simulate these conditions. The model is characterized by a high velocity-low mass impact to the head of a freely moving object. Structural damages and functional effects of the model have been investigated. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Plasticity and Inflammation following Traumatic Brain Injury

    Författare :Anders Hånell; Niklas Marklund; Lars Hillered; Nikolaus Plesnila; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Traumatic Brain Injury; plasticity; inflammation; Nogo receptor; EphA4; IL-1β; Neurosurgery; Neurokirurgi; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) mainly affects young persons in traffic accidents and the elderly in fall accidents. Improvements in the clinical management have significantly improved the outcome following TBI but survivors still suffer from depression, memory problems, personality changes, epilepsy and fatigue. 4. 14. Brain Tissue Oxygenation in Traumatic Brain Injury : Experimental and Clinical Studies

    Författare :Karlis Purins; Anders Lewén; Per Enblad; Oliver Sakowitz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Brain tissue oxygenation; Cerebral metabolism; Traumatic brain injury; Cerebral ischemia; Threshold levels; Neurovent-PTO; Microdialysis; Neurosurgery; Neurokirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of death and disability. TBI is frequently followed by cerebral ischemia which is a great contributor to secondary brain damage. The main causes of cerebral ischemia are pathophysiological changes in cerebral blood flow and metabolism. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Delayed Cell Death after Traumatic Brain Injury : Role of Reactive Oxygen Species

    Författare :Fredrik Clausen; Lars Hillered; Tiit Mathiesen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; Traumatic Brain Injury; Reactive oxygen species; Fluid percussion injury; Controlled cortical impact; weight drop injury; Extracellular-signal regulated kinase; apoptosis; free radical scavenging; morphology; functional outcome; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of death and disability TBI survivors often suffer from severe disturbances of cognition, memory and emotions. Improving the treatment is of great importance, but as of yet no specific neuroprotective treatment has been found. LÄS MER
