  1. 11. Iron-Catalyzed Reactions and X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopic Studies of Palladium- and Ruthenium-Catalyzed Reactions

    Författare :Arnar Guðmundsson; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Hans-Joachim Knölker; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Iron; XAS; Cycloisomerization; DKR; Oxidation; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is twofold: The first is on the application of iron catalysis for organic transformations. The second is on the use of in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) to investigate the mechanisms of a heterogeneous palladium-catalyzed reaction and a homogeneous ruthenium-catalyzed reaction. 2. 12. Development of Biomimetic Catalytic Systems for Selective Oxidations with H2O2 and O2

    Författare :Mikael Johansson; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Matthias Beller; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biomimetic oxidations; catalyst immobilization; dihydroxylation; sulfoxidation; flavin; Chemistry; Kemi; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Four different catalytic systems were studied for biomimetic coupled oxidations using H2O2 or O2. In the first example, osmium tetroxide works as a substrate-selective catalyst for dihydroxylation of olefins. Electron transfer to H2O2 is facilitated by electron transfer mediators (ETMs). LÄS MER

  3. 13. EPR Studies of Ruthenium-Manganese Complexes as Biomimetic Models for Photosystem II - Approaching Artificial Photosynthesis

    Författare :Ping Huang; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; WOC; bridging-mode modification; water oxidation; EPR; Ru-Mn complexes; PSII; Artificial Photosynthesis; D donor -S sensitizer -A acceptor molecular module; High Mn valence states.; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : In natural photosynthesis, solar energy is converted to chemical energy by photosynthetic reaction centers. In green plants and algae, Photosystem II (PSII) and Photosystem I (PSI) absorb light and utilize the charge separation reactions to convert solar energy to chemical energy. LÄS MER
