    Sammanfattning : The transfer of knowledge from one generation to another is key to the intellectualness of mankind. In the present information age, digital technology provides easy access to knowledge and information. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nanospintronics with Molecular Magnets - Tunneling and Spin-Electric Coupling

    Författare :Javier Francisco Nossa Márquez; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular magnets; spin exchange; spin-orbit interaction; magnetic anisotropy; spin frustration; spin chirality; spin-electric control; quantum transport; Coulomb blockade; density functional theory; quantum master equation.;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates theoretically electric control of the magnetic properties of molecular magnets. Two classes of magnetic molecules are considered. The first class consists of molecules that are spin frustrated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Spin-Spin and Spin-Orbit coupling studies of small species and magnetic system

    Författare :Sathya S R R Perumal; Olav Vahtras; Ulf Wahlgren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spin-spin; spin-orbit; biradical; mcscf; Theoretical chemistry; Teoretisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The spin of an electron often misleadingly interpreted as the classical rotationof a particle. The quantum spin distinguishes itself from classicalrotation by possessing quantized states and can be detected by its magneticmoment. The properties of spin and its collective behavior with otherfundamental properties are fascinating in basic sciences. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The scientific interest in the chemistry of synthetic transition metal complexes is motivated by at least two arguments:1.These can be regarded as models of biological transition metal complexes, e.g. metalloenzymes, whose functions can be difficult to reveal in detail due to their complexity. Författare :Oleksiy Grechnyev; Olle Eriksson; Alexander Lichtenstein; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; spin Hamiltonians; quantized spin models; Heisenberg model; spin waves; self-consistent spin-wave theory; dipolar interaction; density functional theory; chemical bonding; overlap population; MAX phases; metal hydrides; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part we study thermodynamics of the two-dimensional Heisenberg ferromagnet with dipolar interaction. This interaction breaks the conditions of the Mermin-Wagner theorem, resulting in a finite transition temperature. LÄS MER
