  1. 21. Automated quantification of plasma metabolites by NMR to study prostate cancer risk biomarkers

    Författare :Hanna Eriksson Röhnisch; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Targeted quantitative NMR-based metabolomics can be used to identify disease risk biomarkers. However, NMR-based metabolomics yields complex spectra with signals from many different metabolites. These signals are often located within close proximity and, therefore, signal interferences are observed. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Application of Artificial Gel Antibodies for the Detection and Quantification of Proteins in Biological Fluids

    Författare :Nasim Ghasemzadeh; Fred Nyberg; Dom M. Desiderio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The molecular-imprinting method has previously been used for the synthesis of artificial gel antibodies, highly selective for various proteins. In present study, we have synthesized artificial gel antibodies against haemoglobin, albumin and different forms of growth hormone with the aim to develop a simple and rapid procedure to measure the concentration of these protein biomarkers in samples of clinical interest. 3. 23. Development and application of an LC-MS method for the alcohol biomarker phosphatidylethanol (PEth) in blood

    Författare :Yufang Zheng; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Objective biomarkers tracing alcohol consumption are demanded in many situations when alcohol drinking is in focus, e.g. during monitoring of patient in a treatment program, in forensic medicine, workplace testing or biochemical validation of self-report in research. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Evaluation of regression methods for log-normal data - linear models for environmental exposure and biomarker outcomes

    Författare :Sara Gustavsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; log-normal distribution; linear models; absolute effects;

    Sammanfattning : The identification and quantification of associations between variables is often of interest in occupational and environmental research, and regression analysis is commonly used to assess these associations. While exposures and biological data often have a positive skewness and can be approximated with the log-normal distribution, much of the inference in regression analysis is based on the normal distribution. 5. 25. GC-MS based metabolomics – Development of a next generation GC-MS method and its application to nutrition and biomarker research

    Författare :Otto Savolainen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gas chromatography; nutrition; biomarkers; metabolomics; mass spectrometry; type 2 diabetes;

    Sammanfattning : Metabolomics, the measurement of a broad range of small molecules in a sample, is maturing as a field in analytical chemistry and becoming a standard research tool in biological sciences for helping to generate a wider understanding of the complex biological mechanisms behind, for example, development of disease and effects of diet on health. Metabolomics analysis is generally divided into either targeted or untargeted metabolomics. LÄS MER
