  1. 36. Nanosized Bilayer Disks as Model Membranes for Interaction Studies

    Författare :Anna Lundquist; Katarina Edwards; Marja-Liisa Riekkola; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Disk; disc; lipid bilayer; PEG-lipid; model membrane; interaction; partitioning; drug; liposome; cryo-TEM; neutron scattering; capillary electrophoresis; immobilization; biosensor; membrane protein; melittin; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : PEG-lipid stabilized bilayer disks have been found in lipid mixtures containing polyethylene glycol (PEG)-lipids where the combination of a high bending rigidity and low PEG-lipid/lipid miscibility favours disk formation. The disks are planar and circular in shape and their long-term stability is excellent. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Methodological Studies on Models and Methods for Mixed-Effects Categorical Data Analysis

    Författare :Maria C. Kjellsson; Mats O. Karlsson; Siv Jönsson; Gordon Graham; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacodynamics; Categorical data; Markov model; Modelling; NONMEM; NLMIXED; Laplace; Gaussian quadrature; Back-Step Method; Proportional odds model; Differential odds model;

    Sammanfattning : Effects of drugs are in clinical trials often measured on categorical scales. These measurements are increasingly being analyzed using mixed-effects logistic regression. However, the experience with such analyzes is limited and only a few models are used. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Modelling calving and sliding of Svalbard outlet glaciers : Spatio-temporal changes and interactions

    Författare :Dorothée Vallot; Rickard Pettersson; Veijo Pohjola; Ken Mattsson; Tómas Jóhannesson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cryospheric science; glacier modelling; time-lapse imagery; undercutting; sliding inversion; discrete particle model; calving model; subglacial hydrology; sliding law; automatic detection method; calving events size and frequency; ocean interaction; melt water runoff; ice dynamics; ice flow model; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot naturgeografi; Earth Science with specialization in Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Future sea level rise associated to global warming is one of the greatest societal and environmental challenges of tomorrow. A large part of the contribution comes from glaciers and ice sheets discharging ice and meltwater into the ocean and the recent worldwide increase is worrying. LÄS MER

  4. 39. Model-Based Protocol Testing in an Erlang Environment

    Författare :Johan Blom; Bengt Jonsson; Sven-Olof Nyström; Bernhard Aichernig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Testing; Erlang; Model-Based Testing; Symbolic Execution; Communication Protocols; Datavetenskap; Computer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Testing is the dominant technique for quality assurance of software systems. It typically consumes considerable resources in development projects, and is often performed in an ad hoc manner. This thesis is concerned with model-based testing, which is an approach to make testing more systematic and more automated. LÄS MER

  5. 40. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) in the Assessment of Respiratory Mechanics

    Författare :Gaetano Perchiazzi; Göran Hedenstierna; Björn Jonson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology; artificial neural networks; respiratory system compliance; respiratory system resistance; respiratory system time constant; intrinsic positive end expiratory pressure; PEEPi; animal model; acute lung injury; oleic acid; Otis model; Fysiologi; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to test the capability of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to estimate respiratory mechanics during mechanical ventilation (MV). ANNs are universal function approximators and can extract information from complex signals. LÄS MER
