  1. 16. Valorization of biomass related substrates into value added chemicals : Hydrogen transfer catalysis

    Författare :Nitish Kumar Garg; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biomass; levulinic acid; hydrosilylation; borrowing-hydrogen; N-alkylation;

    Sammanfattning : In the current global scenario, it is evident that global warming and climate change are primarily driven by emissions stemming from the utilization of fossil fuels. Yet, if we look around, most of what we see is made from or linked to fossil fuels and it clearly shows our over-dependency on fossil fuels and hence there is a significant need to develop alternate sources of energy and raw materials to tackle these problems. 2. 17. Enantio- and Regioselective Iridium-Catalyzed Hydrogenation of Olefins : From Development to Total Synthesis

    Författare :Cristiana Margarita; Pher Andersson; Xavier Verdaguer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asymmetric hydrogenation; Iridium; Regioselectivity; Kinetic resolution; Total synthesis; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis concerns the iridium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of cyclic olefins and allylic alcohols for the preparation of useful chiral intermediates with various substitution patterns. The strategy provides stereocontrol for both non-functionalized as well as functionalized substrates and aims to be implemented in the stereoselective preparation of chiral building blocks having more than one stereocenter. 3. 18. Transition metal-catalyzed allylic and vinylic functionalization : Method development and mechanistic investigations

    Författare :Johanna M. Larsson; Kálmán J. Szabó; Dennis G. Hall; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palladium; copper; catalysis; Heck reaction; C-H functionalization; allylic substitution; silylation; borylation; trifluoromethylation; fluorination; mechanistic study; transition metal; alkene; allylic silane; allylic boronate; allylic fluoride; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The use of small molecule building blocks in, for example, pharmaceutical research and new material development, creates a need for new and improved organic synthesis methods. The use of transition metals as mediators and catalysts opens up new reaction pathways that have made the synthesis of completely new compounds possible as well as greatly improved the synthetic routes to known compounds. 4. 19. Aluminium oxide - poly(ethylene-co-butylacrylate) nanocomposites : synthesis, structure, transport properties and long-term performance

    Författare :Patricia Nordell; Ulf Gedde; Lars Wågberg; Minna Hakkarainen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :nanocomposite; nanoparticles; aluminium oxide; poly ethylene-co-butyl acrylate ; silanization; dispersion; Irganox 1010; antioxidant; OIT; sorption kinetics; water; nanokomposit; nanopartiklar; aluminium oxid; poly eten-co-butyl akrylat ; silanisering; dispergering; Irganox 1010; antioxidant; OIT; vattenupptag.;

    Sammanfattning : Polymer nanocomposites are promising materials for dielectrical use in high voltage applications and insulations. This work presents a study of nanocomposites based on poly(ethylene-co-butyl acrylate) with two different comonomer compositions and two different aluminium oxide nanoparticles. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Betulin-modified cellulosic textile fibers with improved water repellency, hydrophobicity and antibacterial properties

    Författare :Tianxiao Huang; Monica Ek; Mats Johansson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antibacterial; Betulin; Biorefinery; Cellulose; Grafting; Coating; Hydrophobicity; Textile; Water repellency; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Textiles made from natural sources, such as cotton and flax, have advantages over those made of synthetic fibers in terms of sustainability. Unlike major synthetic fibers that have a negative impact on the environment due to poor biodegradability, cotton cellulose is a renewable material. LÄS MER
