11. Synthesis of functionalized allylic, propargylic and allenylic compounds : Selective formation of C–B, C–C, C–CF3 and C-Si bonds
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on the development of new palladium and copper- mediated reactions for functionalization of alkenes and propargylic alcohol derivatives. The synthetic utility of the 1,2-diborylated butadienes synthesized in one of these processes has also been demonstrated. LÄS MER
12. Selective Sorbents - Silica-immobilized affinity ligands and molecularly imprinted polymers
Sammanfattning : The development of selective sorbents for the separation of various molecules, preferentially biomolecules, is described in this work. Affinity ligands were immobilized on small silica particles and used in high-performance liquid affinity chromatography (HPLAC). LÄS MER
13. Catalytic Asymmetric Ketone and Alkene Reductions Using Transition Metal Complexes
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains seven papers dealing with iridium and ruthenium based catalytic asymmetric reductions, either of ketones into chiral alcohols, or olefins into chiral alkanes. The first part of the thesis describes how we have designed and evaluated new bicyclic ligands containing either N,S or N,N chelating atoms. LÄS MER
14. Processing and properties of silane crosslinked wood-polyethylene composites
Sammanfattning : Utilizing wood as filler and reinforcement in thermoplastic polymer-matrix composites, has gained interest during the last decades, mainly as profile extruded exterior building products such as deck boards, railings, and door- and window frame components. This thesis deals with silane-crosslinking of wood-polyethylene composites through reactiveextrusion. LÄS MER
15. Porous Cellulose Materials from Nano Fibrillated Cellulose
Sammanfattning : In the first part of this work a novel type of low-density, sponge-like material for the separation of mixtures of oil and water has been prepared by vapour deposition of hydrophobic silanes on ultra-porous nanocellulose aerogels. To achieve this, a highly porous (> 99 %) nanocellulose aerogel with high structural flexibility and robustness is first formed by freeze-drying an aqueous dispersion of the nanocellulose. LÄS MER
