  1. 1. Cyclic Nucleotide Phosphodiesterase 3B: Regulation in rat adipocytes and 3T3-L1 cells

    Författare :Tova Landström; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; 3T3-L1 TNF-alpha; adipocyte; insulin; p70S6 kinase; mitogen-activated protein kinase; protein kinase B; phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase; phosphodiesterase 3B; cAMP; lipolysis; phosphorylation; signal transduction; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin stimulation of rat adipocytes results in phosphorylation and activation of the cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase 3B (PDE3B), a key enzyme in the antilipolytic signalling pathway of this hormone. In this thesis, the site phosphorylated in PDE3B upon stimulation of rat adipocytes with insulin and/or the beta-adrenergic agonist, isoproterenol is identified. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Examining the role of metabolism in Myc-driven tumorigenesis

    Författare :Tacha Zi Plym Forshell; Jonas Nilsson; Mattias Belting; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cancer; Myc; metabolism; polyamines; spermidine synthase; glycolysis; lactate dehydrogenase; serine metabolism; Phgdh; folate metabolism; Shmt; Pim kinase; Pim-3 Kinase; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Myc transcriptionally regulates genes involved in processes such as cell proliferation, metabolism, differentiation, and angiogenesis.  MYC expression is deregulated in many types of human cancer; therefore discovering the mechanisms behind MYCs role in tumorigenesis is essential. 3. 3. Protection of the developing brain with trophic factors. Signaling through serine/threonine kinase pathways

    Författare :Katarina Gustafson Brywe; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :hypoxia-ischemia; neonatal; brain; growth factors; ser thr kinases;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Perinatal asphyxia still constitutes a clinical hazard associated withconsiderable neurologic morbidity. There is today no therapy in clinical use toprotect the brain after such insult. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies of PDGF receptor signaling in vitro and in vivo

    Författare :Maria Tsioumpekou; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Jean-Baptiste Demoulin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PDGF; signaling; cancer; Erk5; kinase; Cbl; ubiquitination; deubiquitinase; pericytes; tumor growth; angiogenesis; low molecular weight inhibitors;

    Sammanfattning : Platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) signaling is essential for proliferation, migration and survival of cells of mesenchymal origin; however, its deregulation has been associated with various diseases, including cancer. The aim of this thesis was to clarify the molecular mechanisms of PDGFR signaling regulation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Histone modification regulated bysuppressor of Zeste 12 and Ipl1 : Aurora-like kinase in Drosophila

    Författare :Anna Larsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :molekylär bioteknik inst f molekylärbiologi ; molecular biotechnology dept of molecular biology ;

    Sammanfattning : Polycomb group (PcG) proteins are a group of genome wide silencers that are crucial for many processes during the development. In Drosophila PcG proteins are organised into four different complexes: PRC1, PRC2, PhoRC and PR-DUB. PRC2 consists of four core proteins: Su(z)12, E(z), Esc and Nurf. LÄS MER
