  1. 6. Development of a protein-free fed-batch process for NS0 cells: studies on regulation of proliferation

    Författare :Erika Spens; Lena Häggström; Jean-Louis Goergen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NS0 myeloma cells; protein-free medium; fed-batch; conditioned medium; autocrine growth factors; abortive proliferation; protease activity; aprotinin; gp130; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The overall objective of this study was to investigate how NS0 cell proliferation is regulated in protein-free media. The hypothesis was that during the adaptation to growth factor-free media, animal cell lines start to produce their own autocrine growth factors to support proliferation, and after some time in a culture the effects of these factors are lost which results in cessation of proliferation. 2. 7. Alpha 1-antitrypsin: A Role in Cancer Progression

    Författare :Inga Zelvyté; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; invasion; neutrophils; cancer cell; Alpha1- antitrypsin; proteinase inhibitors;

    Sammanfattning : Alpha1-antitrypsin (AAT), a circulating single-chain glycoprotein is the most abundant serine proteinase inhibitor in human plasma. AAT is an acute phase protein, its levels increase rapidly to concentrations exceeding 50mM in response to inflammation, infection and malignant diseases. LÄS MER

  3. 8. SLPI and soluble BTLA as immunological markers in severe bacterial infections

    Författare :Anna Lange; Olof Hultgren; Jonas Sundén-Cullberg; Peter Bergman; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SLPI; sBTLA; sepsis; bloodstream infection; pneumonia;

    Sammanfattning : Clinical presentation, and outcome of infections are affected by host-, and etiology- (focus of infection and pathogen) related factors. The immune response is controlled by a network of regulating pathways. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Structure and organization of genes for the predominant seminal plasma proteins semenogelin I, semenogelin II and beta-microseminoprotein

    Författare :Magnus Ulvsbäck; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical chemistry; transglutaminase substrate; semen coagulation; prostate; seminal vesicles; seminal plasma; rhesus monkey; human; evolution; nucleic acid sequence; cDNA; gene; semenogelin; b-microseminoprotein; Klinisk kemi; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Sammanfattning : In man, the predominant proteins in the seminal plasma include semenogelin I, semenogelin II and b-microseminoprotein (MSP). Semenogelin I and II are both synthesized in the seminal vesicles and are the backbone of the gel formed upon semen coagulation. MSP is synthesized in the prostate, but its role has not yet been defined. LÄS MER

  5. 10. HIV target cells and innate immune factors in the human female genital tract

    Författare :Tove Kaldensjö; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : World-wide, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) transmission most often takes place in the genital tract during heterosexual intercourse, but the site where HIV most commonly establishes primary infection in the female genital tract remains unknown. Several factors including viral load in the HIV-infected individual, presence of genital infections, genotype and possibly sex hormone levels influence the risk of HIV acquisition. LÄS MER
