  1. 1. Development of a protein-free fed-batch process for NS0 cells: studies on regulation of proliferation

    Författare :Erika Spens; Lena Häggström; Jean-Louis Goergen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NS0 myeloma cells; protein-free medium; fed-batch; conditioned medium; autocrine growth factors; abortive proliferation; protease activity; aprotinin; gp130; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The overall objective of this study was to investigate how NS0 cell proliferation is regulated in protein-free media. The hypothesis was that during the adaptation to growth factor-free media, animal cell lines start to produce their own autocrine growth factors to support proliferation, and after some time in a culture the effects of these factors are lost which results in cessation of proliferation. 2. 2. Cytokines in Metabolic Functions

    Författare :Anna Benrick; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :IL-1; IL-6; LIF; obesity; fat mass; energy expenditure; hypothalamus; gp130 SNP; myocardial infarction;

    Sammanfattning : During infections, circulating cytokines are largely produced by immune cells. In healthy obese individuals, large parts of these circulating cytokines are produced in adipose tissue, for instance by macrophages that have accumulated there. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Leukemia inhibitor factor (LIF) and gp130 in early defence against HIV-1 infection

    Författare :Annelie Tjernlund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :LIF; HIV-1; lymphoid tissue; cytokine; innate immune response; Jak Stat signalling pathway; cMAGI cells; siRNA;

    Sammanfattning : Leukemia inhibitor factor (LIF) is a polyfunctional cytokine that belongs to the IL-6 family which mainly signals through the Jak/Stat pathway via the gp130/LIFR-α heterodimer. The focus of my research has been to investigate and understand if and how LIF exerts HIV1 suppressing activity. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Impact of Interleukin-6 family cytokine signalling on human endothelial cells and platelets

    Författare :Madelene Lindkvist; Magnus Grenegård; Liza Ljungberg; Alistair W. Poole; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gp130 signalling cytokines; inflammation; transsignalling; JAK STAT; MEK ERK; PI3K AKT; platelet aggregation; vasodilation;

    Sammanfattning : Endothelial cells lining the luminal side of blood vessels creates a barrier between the circulating blood and the extracellular matrix. Endothelial cells have important functions in regulation of vessel tension and inflammation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation and function of the human fallopian tube

    Författare :Kjell Wånggren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Fallopian tube; endometrium; embryo; transport; prostaglandin; receptors; progesterone; mifepristone; LIF; LIFR; gp130;

    Sammanfattning : The Fallopian tube is essential for human reproduction. Transport of the spermatozoa, the egg, and later the pre-embryo is believed to be aided by muscular contractions in the wall of the Fallopian tube and cilia in the mucosa. LÄS MER
