6. Holocene vegetation dynamics and climate changes in the Torneträsk area, northern Sweden
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to reconstruct the Holocene vegetation history and the climate changes in a subarctic area. The results are based on pollen and macrofossil records from six lakes in the Torneträsk area. The lakes are situated at altitudes between 370 and 999 m a.s. LÄS MER
7. Testing palaeomagnetic and 14C based geochronological methods in the Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : The Baltic Sea is a continental shelf sea that is influenced by both river runoff and marine water. The two water masses are vertically stratified in the Baltic Sea, resulting in a positive, estuarine circulation system, which has undergone changes in the past due to isostatic uplift of the Baltic basin. 8. Animals and Humans : Human-animal interaction in northern Sweden during the late glacial and postglacial time
Sammanfattning : When the last remnant of the Weichsel glacier melted in northern Sweden, around 7000 BC, pioneer settlers entered virgin land, following their prey, which in turn followed the vegetation dispersion. Some of the settlers derived from the east and the northeast and spread from the Russian taiga, through Finland and into northern Sweden, the study area for this thesis. LÄS MER
9. Consuming and communicating identities : Dietary diversity and interaction in Middle Neolithic Sweden
Sammanfattning : Isotope analyses on human and faunal skeletal remains from different Swedish Neolithic archaeological contexts are here applied as a means to reconstruct dietary strategies and mobility patterns. The chronological emphasis is on the Middle Neolithic period, and radiocarbon dating constitutes another central focus. LÄS MER
10. Event stratigraphy for the Last Glacial-Holocene transition in eastern middle Sweden
Sammanfattning : This thesis outlines an event stratigraphy for the Last Glacial-Holocene transition in eastern middle Sweden. Events are short-lived occurrences that have left traces in the geological record and which, therefore, may be used for correlation and inter-regional comparisons. LÄS MER
