  1. 21. Protein kinase STK25 is a regulator of hepatic lipid partitioning and whole body metabolism

    Författare :Manoj Amrutkar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NAFLD; NASH; Liver lipid metabolism; Type 2 diabetes; STK25;

    Sammanfattning : In past decade, type 2 diabetes (T2D) and associated metabolic complications have become a major global threat for human health with epidemic increase in incidence. Currently available treatments for T2D have several limitations and side effects making it difficult safely reach adequate metabolic control. LÄS MER

  2. 22. The Importance of a Fifth Element in Transcription: Transcriptional Discrimination in Escherichia coli

    Författare :Bertil Gummesson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Escherichia coli; RNA polymerase; ppGpp; DksA; stringent response; passive regulation;

    Sammanfattning : Upon growth arrest of the bacterium Escherichia coli, RNA polymerase (Es70) is redirected from transcribing genes encoding the protein synthesizing system (PSS) to those involved in maintenance and stress resistance. The small nucleotide ppGpp, which is directly targeting Es70, is a key regulatory molecule required for this response. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Multi-omic time-series analysis of T-cells as a model for identification of biomarkers, treatments and upstream disease regulators

    Författare :Olof Rundquist; Mika Gustafsson; Colm Nestor; Riitta Lahesmaa; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : CD4+ T-cell function and their process of differentiation is a central piece of the puzzle in a multitude of diseases. CD4+ T-cells are part of the adaptive immune system and function by directing other immune cells to the site of infection and instructing B-cells to produce antibodies, among many other functions. 4. 24. Immune mediators in people with HIV and tuberculosis

    Författare :Oskar Olsson; Klinisk infektionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Tuberculosis (TB) is the most common cause of death among people with HIV (PWH). PWH often have atypical clinical manifestations of TB, and TB disease can therefore be missed. Better screening markers could identify individuals with high likelihood of TB disease. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Functional and molecular aspects of interferon action in human natural killer cells and other leucocytes

    Författare :Åke Gustafsson; Erik Lundgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :natural killer cell; large granular lymphocyte; interferon; interferon production; interferon-induced; protein synthesis; two-dimensional electrophoresis;

    Sammanfattning : Interferons comprise a class of structurally related proteins which exert several regulatory effects in responsive cells. These effects include the establishment of an antiviral state, the inhibition of cellular proliferation and the alteration of different immune reactions. LÄS MER
