  1. 11. Adolescent type 1 diabetes : Eating and gastrointestinal function

    Författare :Maria Lodefalk; Peter Bang; Jan Åman; Hans-Jacob Bangstad; Sweden Stockholm Karolinska institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; type 1 diabetes; adolescence; food habits; gastrointestinal symptoms; incretins; ghrelin; eating disorders; gastric emptying; postprandial glycaemia; Pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1DM) are given nutritional education, but the knowledge about their adherence to the food recommendations and associations between dietary intake and metabolic control is poor. Gastrointestinal symptoms are more prevalent in adults with T1DM than in healthy controls, which may be due to disturbed gastrointestinal motility. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Towards Defence In Depth In Diabetes Glucose Self-Management

    Författare :Fredrik Ståhl; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diabetes; model; insulin action; postprandial glucose;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes is a disease characterized by insufficient capacity to regulate the blood glucose level. In insulin-dependent diabetes, multiple daily injections of insulin have to be administered. In-between scheduled visits to the care provider, the patient has to manage the glucose control independently. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Effects of dietary fibre on the human metabolism and metabolome

    Författare :Anna Johansson Persson; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; arabinoxylan; b-glucan; dietary fibre; inflammation; LC-MS; metabolomics; oat; pectin; postprandial response; randomised controlled trial; rye; sugar beet fibre;

    Sammanfattning : It is well-known that dietary fibre can have a positive effect on the development of lifestyle-dependent diseases such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. However, the effect may be different for different kinds of fibre and different sub-populations at risk. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Characterisation of Dietary Fibre Properties to Optimise the Effects on Human Metabolism and the Transcriptome

    Författare :Matilda Ulmius; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; field-flow fractionation; gastrointestinal method; aggregation; solubilisation; pectin; β-glucan; sugar beet fibre; Oats; rye; postprandial responses; microarray gene expression;

    Sammanfattning : It is well established that dietary fibre, especially soluble dietary fibre, has beneficial effects and can prevent diseases associated with the modern lifestyle. This has been explained by the viscous effects of soluble fibre, which can reduce or delay the absorption of carbohydrates and fat in the small intestine, resulting in lower blood concentrations of glucose, insulin and cholesterol. 5. 15. On the regulation of Postprandial Gastrointestinal Blood Flow in Teleost Fish

    Författare :Henrik Seth; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss ; Shorthorn sculpin Myoxocephalus scorpius ; Diet composition; Oxygen consumption; Mechanical stimuli; Chemical stimuli;

    Sammanfattning : Henrik Seth (2010) On the Regulation of Postprandial Gastrointestinal Blood Flow in Teleost Fish Department of Zoology/Zoophysiology, University of Gothenburg, Box 463, 405 30 Göteborg. The regulation of the cardiovascular changes, in particular the increase in gastrointestinal blood flow that follows after feeding has received little attention in teleost fish. LÄS MER
