1. Affective Surface Engineering for Product Design
Sammanfattning : Design research, sensation and perception, hard metrology, emotional functions, semantics, surface roughness, product interaction, core values, total appearance… the list of scientific phrases never ends. Yet, what do they mean and how shall we use it when we are communicating with the industry and our end users? Is it possible to link the product experience to process parameters, put a number onto it? When you can measure spoken needs or even better, implied needs, of a product, and relate that data to the production, it is possible do create advanced products with high interaction stimuli. 2. Test Design for Finite Element Model Updating - Identifiable Parameters and Informative Test Data
Sammanfattning : It is important to predict structural phenomena, such as noise and fatigue, stemming from vibrations. To do this, reliable structural dynamic models are needed. To be useful the models have to compare well with reality in the validation against test data; if not, the models should be modified. LÄS MER
3. Journeys in vector space: Using deep neural network representations to aid automotive software engineering
Sammanfattning : Context - The automotive industry is in the midst of a transformation where software is becoming the primary tool for delivering value to customers. While this has vastly improved their product offerings, vehicle manufacturers are facing an urgent need to continuously develop, test, and deliver functionality, while maintaining high levels of quality. 4. Physics of blood flow in arteries and its relation to intra-luminal thrombus and atherosclerosis
Sammanfattning : Vascular pathologies such as Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) and atherosclerosis are complex vascular diseases involving biological, mechanical, and fluid-dynamical factors. This thesis follows a multidisciplinary approach and presents an integrated fluid-chemical theory of ILT growth and analyzes the shear-induced migration of red blood cells (RBCs) in large arteries with respect to hypoxia and its possible role in atherosclerosis. 5. The use and suitability of design methods in practice : considerations of problem-solving characteristics and the context of design
Sammanfattning : Design by teams involves a variety of activities, such as prioritisation of projects, ideas generation, problem resolution, and concept selection. These activities are often practised in an intuitive manner. Companies generally feel insecure about the efficiency of their intuitive team design procedures, especially at the early stages of design. LÄS MER
