1. Metabolic impact of certain dietary proteins and/or amino acids - Glycaemic and hormonal responses to carbohydrate meals in healthy subject
Sammanfattning : Re-occurring hyperglycaemic episodes promote subclinical low-grade inflammation and CVD in type 2 diabetes, emphasising the therapeutic role of tight blood glucose regulation. A tight blood glucose regulation is probably beneficial also in healthy subjects and mild elevations in postprandial glycaemia and triglycerides are associated with impaired flow-mediated dilation and increased markers of oxidative stress in young healthy subjects. 2. Bariatric surgery as treatment of type 2 diabetes – clinical and mechanistic aspects
Sammanfattning : Bariatric surgery can rapidly improve glycemic control and cardiovascular risk factors in patients with T2D and obesity. These improvements appear to be partly independent of weight loss, however, the underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. LÄS MER
3. Adolescent type 1 diabetes : Eating and gastrointestinal function
Sammanfattning : Adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1DM) are given nutritional education, but the knowledge about their adherence to the food recommendations and associations between dietary intake and metabolic control is poor. Gastrointestinal symptoms are more prevalent in adults with T1DM than in healthy controls, which may be due to disturbed gastrointestinal motility. LÄS MER
4. Studies on incretins and cardiovascular function
Sammanfattning : Background: Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is a strong risk factor for coronary heart disease (CHD). A great many diabetic subjects suffer from congestive heart failure (CHF), a condition with a high concomitant mortality. So far, attempts aimed at reducing macrovascular complications in T2DM have been essentially futile. LÄS MER
5. Role of GLP-1 receptor agonists in endothelial function
Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: The leading cause of death for patients suffering from type 2 diabetes is macrovascular disease. Endothelial dysfunction is one of the earliest events identified in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Hence, there is a need for finding glucose-lowering agents that cause direct positive effects on vasculature in diabetic patients. LÄS MER
