  1. 1. Diet and/or exercise treatment for weight loss in overweight and obese women after childbirth

    Författare :Fredrik Bertz; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; weight loss; overweight; postpartum; lactation; diet; exercise; behavior modification; DLW; body composition; RCT; Grounded Theory;

    Sammanfattning : AIM: The aim of the research presented in this thesis was to evaluate whether, dietary behavior modification treatment (D), or physical exercise behavior modification treatment (E), or the combination of both (DE), provide short and long-term weight loss compared to control (C) among overweight and obese lactating women, and if so how. METHODS: At 10-14 weeks postpartum, 68 lactating Swedish women with a pre-pregnancy body mass index of 25-35 were randomized to 12 weeks of treatment or control. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Iron absorption and iron status related to diet : an experimental and epidemiological study

    Författare :Per Tidehag; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; iron status; iron absorption; bioavailability; dietary fiber; phytate; calcium; radioiron; diet;

    Sammanfattning : The absorption of iron from the diet is a major determinant of the iron status of an individual. Accurate measures of iron absorption are thus essential in the determination of the effects of diet composition on iron absorption and status. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines associations between a number of epidemiological or biological markers of cancer risk and oxidative stress, in order to achieve a better understanding of how diet, lifestyle, and genetic factors contribute to the occurrence of oxidative stress. Data from the Malmö Diet and Cancer (MDC) cohort was used. LÄS MER
