  1. 16. On the role of parvalbumin interneurons in neuronal network activity in the prefrontal cortex

    Författare :Nicolas Gustavo Guyon; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The prefrontal cortex (PFC) is an area important for executive functions, the initiation and temporal organization of goal-directed behavior, as well as social behaviors. Inhibitory interneurons expressing parvalbumin (PV) have a vital role in modulating PFC circuit plasticity and output, as inhibition by PV interneurons on excitatory pyramidal neurons regulates the excitability of the network. 2. 17. Regulation and function of the Mad/Max/Myc network during neuronal and hematopoietic differentiation

    Författare :Anne Hultquist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Myc; Mad1; neuroblastoma; hematopoiesis; phorbol ester; retinoic acid; interferon-g; TGF-b; differentiation.; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The Mad/Max/Myc transcription factor network takes part in the control of vital cellular functions such as growth, proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Dimerization with the protein Max is necessary for the Myc-family of oncoproteins and their antagonists, the Mad-family proteins, to regulate target genes and carry out their intended functions. 3. 18. Modulatory effects and interactions of substance P, dopamine and 5-HT in a neuronal network

    Författare :Erik Svensson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Lamprey; spinal cord; neuromodulation; substance P; 5-HT; dopamine;

    Sammanfattning : The spinal neuronal network that generates the locomotor rhythm in lamprey contains excitatory and inhibitory interneurons, reticulospinal inputs from the brainstem, and motor neurons. In this thesis, I have studied how the spinal locomotor network cart be modulated by a tachykinin, dopamine and 5- HT that are co-localized in midline neurons situated below the central canal. 4. 19. Dendritic and axonal ion channels supporting neuronal integration : From pyramidal neurons to peripheral nociceptors

    Författare :Marcus Petersson; Erik Fransén; Theodore Cummins; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ion channels; computational modeling; simulations; dendrites; axons; TRP; hippocampus; C-fiber nociceptors; pain;

    Sammanfattning : The nervous system, including the brain, is a complex network with billions of complex neurons. Ion channels mediate the electrical signals that neurons use to integrate input and produce appropriate output, and could thus be thought of as key instruments in the neuronal orchestra. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Computer Modelling of Neuronal Interactions in the Striatum

    Författare :Johannes Hjorth; Jeanette Hellgren Kotaleski; Kevin Gurney; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; striatum; fast spiking interneurons; medium spiny projection neurons; gap junctions; interoperability; MUSIC; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Large parts of the cortex and the thalamus project into the striatum,which serves as the input stage of the basal ganglia. Information isintegrated in the striatal neural network and then passed on, via themedium spiny (MS) projection neurons, to the output stages of thebasal ganglia. LÄS MER
