  1. 1. Functions and memory features of adaptive- and innate immune cells in physiological and inflammatory settings

    Författare :Gintare Lasaviciute; Eva Sverremark-Ekström; Silke Appel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Innate immune memory; Limosilactobacillus reuteri; dendritic cells; lymphocytes; cytokines; immunological memory; intestinal epithelial cells; chemotherapy; bone marrow; secondary lymphoid organs; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : The immune system is a complex but well-regulated network which cooperates with the microbiota to maintain optimal homeostasis under physiological settings. A number of factors display the capacity to alter the immune system and thus microbiota crosstalk including host genetics, diet, environmental influences and drugs such as antibiotics or chemotherapeutic agents. 2. 2. Innate immune responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection : How extracellular traps and trained immunity can restrict bacterial growth

    Författare :Clara Braian; Maria Lerm; Olle Stendahl; Parasa Venkata Ramanarao; Nordenfelt Pontus; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and the cause of 1.5 million deaths in 2018. During a pulmonary TB infection, the bacterium reaches the lungs and is phagocytosed by cells of the innate immune system, primarily macrophages. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Immune reconstitution after childhood leukemia. Aspects on immunizations and effects of Ara-C on the innate immune system

    Författare :Torben Ek; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :acute lymphoblastic leukemia; immune reconstitution; immunization; antibody; avidity; ara-C; fever; cytokines;

    Sammanfattning : Children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) can be cured with cytotoxic chemotherapy, but myelosuppression and immunosuppression are major side effects causing morbidity and even mortality from infections. Vaccinations with diphtheria toxoid (DT), tetanus toxoid (TT) and protein conjugated Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib) capsular polysaccharide were used to investigate the adaptive immune system in a controlled study of 31 children after treatment for ALL. 4. 4. Innate and adaptive immune responses in pulmonary sarcoidosis

    Författare :Maria Wikén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease characterized by formation of granulomas in various organs and tissues. Although it is a systemic disorder, the lungs are commonly affected, and an infiltration of T cells, in particular CD4pos T helper 1 (Th1) cells, is seen in the lower airways. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Immunotoxicology in Marine Invertebrates - Effects of Manganese on Immune Response

    Författare :Carolina A. M. Oweson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Invertebrates; Immune system; Haemocytes; Manganese Mn ; Immunotoxicology; Crustacea; Mollusca; Echinodermata;

    Sammanfattning : Manganese, Mn, is an abundant element in nature, particularly in soft bottom sediments of the oceans and in bedrock. The metal is predominantly bound to the sediment in the colloid state, MnO2. LÄS MER
