    Sammanfattning : Medaljens framsida handlar om hur meningsproduktionen kring Nobelpriset såg ut i den svenska dagspressen under prisets tillkomstfas. Avhandlingen beskriver detta dels genom att empiriskt skildra den svenska pressens reaktioner från publikalionen av Alfred Nobels testamente 1897 till och med prisets tioårsjubileum 1911 , och dels genom att analysera hur den bild som konstruerades i reaktionema såg ut, kritiserades och upprätthölls.
