  1. 36. Radiosensitivity in lung cancer with focus on p53

    Författare :Michael Bergqvist; Claes Mercke; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Lung cancer; comet assay; p53; cDNA; p53 antibodies; Lungcancer; Komet metoden; p53 antikroppar; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : In Sweden approximately 2800 new lung cancer patients are diagnosed every year. Radiotherapy is used with curative intention in certain groups of patients. The aim of this thesis is to study the basis of differences in radioresistance and the possibility to predict response to radiotherapy. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Cellular effects of ionizing radiation : Relevant for understanding cancer risk after medical and environmental radiation exposures

    Författare :Pamela Chiaka Akuwudike; Andrzej Wojcik; Lovisa Lundholm; Kerstin Borgmann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiation; DNA damage; radiation-induced carcinogenesis; second primary cancer; cisplatin chemoradiotherapy; dose fractionation; low dose; low dose rate; dose and dose rate effectiveness factor DDREF ; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Radiation-induced cancers are stochastic and delayed effects of exposure to ionizing radiation. The dose-response relationship for radiation-induced cancers at both low dose/low dose rates and high doses (doses encountered during radiotherapy) remains unclear. LÄS MER

  3. 38. ATP Dynamics in Pancreatic α- and β-cells

    Författare :Jia Li; Anders Tengholm; Erik Gylfe; Hindrik Mulder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ATP; Ca2 ; β-cell; α-cell; SERCA; SOCE; muscarinic receptor; insulin secretion; glucagon secretion; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Glucose metabolism in pancreatic α- and β-cells is believed to regulate secretion of glucagon and insulin, respectively. In β-cells, ATP links glucose metabolism to electrical activity and insulin secretion. LÄS MER

  4. 39. Assessment of physical activity and energy expenditure in adolescents

    Författare :Ulf Ekelund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Accelerometry; Activity diary; Doubly labelled water; Heart rate monitoring; FLEX HR; Oxygen uptake; Physical activity level; Total energy expenditure; ;

    Sammanfattning : Physical activity (PA) is a complex, multidimensional human behaviour that includes all bodily movement from fidgeting to participation in marathon running. The detailed relationship (i.e. dose - response) between the type and degree of PA and its effects on various aspects of health remains to be elucidated, not least in young people. LÄS MER

  5. 40. Early stress, cortisol in hair and health among children in different psychosocial environments

    Författare :Jerker Karlén; Tomas Faresjö; Johnny Ludvigsson; Töres Theorell; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Psychosocial circumstances during early life are increasingly recognized as crucial, not only for the growing individual but also for health throughout life. A possible mechanism could be physiologic dysregulation due to stress. LÄS MER
