16. Influence of solid solutions on the properties of some apatite-type calcium salts relevant to the production of phosphate and silicate cements
Sammanfattning : The effects of non-stoichiometry and isomorphic substitutions on the properties of some apatite-type compounds were investigated. These investigations were performed both in the fields of Portland cement chemistry and apatitic calcium phosphate-based biocements. LÄS MER
17. Cobalt in the hard metal production industry : exposure via inhalation and skin and the inflammatory response in human keratinocytes
Sammanfattning : Cobalt is a strong sensitizer and can cause contact allergy upon both direct contact or from airborne exposure on the skin. In the skin, keratinocytes are the first cells to come in contact with the metal and will react and respond to the danger by triggering an alarm system resulting in an inflammatory response in the skin. 18. Mechanisms of insulin exocytosis and release
Sammanfattning : Endocrine cells as well as neurons release their hormones and transmitters by regulated exocytosis. In the pancreatic B-cell, stimuli like glucose initiate biochemical and electrical processes that culminate in influx of Ca2+, which then triggers exocytosis of insulin-containing granules. LÄS MER
19. Time dependency in the protection from myocardial injury after myocardial ischemia and reperfusion : new insights from experimental studies with the ultrashort-acting calcium antagonist clevidipine
Sammanfattning : Interruption of the coronary blood flow causes myocardial ischemia and, after a critical time period, myocardial cell death. Accordingly, early reinstitution of arterial blood flow is necessary to minimize the damage. LÄS MER
20. Study and Modeling of the Reduction of Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxides and Hydrogen Chloride by Dry Injection Technologies
Sammanfattning : The potential and mechanism to reduce acid gases, such as SO2, NOx and HCl by dry Ca-based sorbents have been studied to improve the efficiencies of the process and sorbent utilization. Several natural limestones were tested for SO2 removal. Calcium conversion as high as 45% was achieved within 0.3 s at 1000°C, 1000 ppm SO2 and Ca/S=1. LÄS MER
