  1. 11. The Influence of Physical Activity on Musculoskeletal Characteristics and Fracture Risk at Growth

    Författare :Fredrik Detter; Ortopedi - klinisk och molekylär osteoporosforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; BMC; BMD; pQCT; DXA; Fractures; Children; Bone; Muscle;

    Sammanfattning : Physical Activity (PA) can improve neuromuscular development. A high level of physical activity can perhaps however lead to more fractures. This is a longitudinal population-based exercise intervention study where the school-based physical education (PE) in one school is increased from mean 60 min/week to mean 200 min/ week. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Physical Activity During Growth. Effects on Bone, Muscle, Fracture Risk and Academic Performance

    Författare :Jesper Fritz; Ortopedi - klinisk och molekylär osteoporosforskning; []
    Nyckelord :fysisk aktivitet; barn;

    Sammanfattning : Frakturer är ett stort och dessutom ökande samhällsproblem. Genom att stärka skelettet och muskulaturen kan risken för frakturer minskas. Hög fysisk aktivitet är associerad med hög benmassa, gynnsam skelettstruktur, god muskelfunktion och låg risk att drabbas av frakturer. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Pharmacological Modulation of Skeletal Homeostasis

    Författare :Niklas U. Andersson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Farmakologi; toxicology; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; pharmacy; pharmacognosy; Pharmacological sciences; peripheral quantitative computed tomography.; dual energy X-ray absorptiomenty; estrogen; parathyroid hormone; gastrectomy; alendronate; ovariectomy; Bone;

    Sammanfattning : Both ovariectomy (OVX) and gastrectomy (GX) cause osteopenia in several animal species including humans. While the effect of OVX has been ascribed to estrogen deficiency, the underlying mechanism behind GX-induced osteopenia is poorly understood. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Risk factors for falls and fractures in elderly women. The Malmö OPRA study

    Författare :Paul Gerdhem; Ortopedi - klinisk och molekylär osteoporosforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fysiologi; Physiology; muskelsystem; Skelett; muscle system; Skeleton; Falls.; Vitamin D; Bone turnover markers; Frail elderly; Body weight; Physical activity; Osteoporosis; Fractures; Bone density; reumatologi; rheumatology locomotion;

    Sammanfattning : Approximately half of all women will sustain a fracture after the age of 50. Fractures may cause long-term disability and excess mortality. Identifying individuals at high risk of sustaining a fracture is important in the development of primary and secondary prevention strategies. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Biomechanical analyses of flywheel resistance exercise : From a space- and ground-based perspective

    Författare :Maria Sjöberg; Ola Eiken; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Hans E Berg; Patrik Sundblad; Loren FZ Chiu; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AnyBody Modeling System; concentric; eccentric; eccentric overload; inverse dynamics; knee extensors; microgravity; musculoskeletal deconditioning; net-joint moment; AnyBody Modeling System; excentrisk; excentrisk överbelastning; invers dynamik; knäextensorer; koncentrisk; ledmoment; mikrogravitation; muskuloskeletal nedbrytning; Teknik och hälsa; Technology and Health;

    Sammanfattning : Astronauts suffer degradation of postural muscles and weight-bearing bones during long-duration spaceflight. Resistance exercise is used as a primary countermeasure against these degradations. LÄS MER
