6. Structure and Electronic Properties of Phthalocyanine Films on Metal and Semiconductor Substrates
Sammanfattning : The current thesis presents fundamental studies of phthalocyanines (Pcs), a group of organic macro-cycle molecules. The use of phthalocyanine molecular films in devices with a variety of possible technological applications has been the reason of the many studies dedicated to such molecules during the last decades. 7. Epitaxial growth of semiconductor nanowires
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the results obtained from investigations carried out on epitaxially grown III-V semiconductor nanowires aimed at improving our understanding of and knowledge on the growth mechanism of nanowires. This is important to be able to control their growth, in order to make future applications possible. LÄS MER
8. Structure of Self-Assembled Monolayers on Gold Studied by NEXAFS and Photoelectron Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) provide well-defined and ordered films of molecules spontaneously chemisorbed on a surface. By designing molecules with desired functionalities, such molecular film can be interesting for a range of applications from molecular electronics to catalysis. LÄS MER
9. Nanometer Scale Protein Templates for Bionanotechnology Applications
Sammanfattning : Nanofabrication techniques were used to manufacture nanometer scale protein templates. The fabrication approach employs electron beam lithography (EBL) patterning on poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) thiol (CH3O(CH2CH2O)17NHCO(CH2)2SH) self-assembled monolayers (SAM) on Au. LÄS MER
10. Transmission Electron Microscopy of III-V Nanowires and Nanotrees
Sammanfattning : In this work, the morphology and crystal structure of epitaxial semiconductor nanowire structures grown by metal-organic vapour phase epitaxy (MOVPE) are studied by electron microscopy methods. In particular, the three-dimensional structure of nanowires and nanotrees has been characterised by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and multi-slice (MS) simulations.
