  1. 1. Photochemical Surface Functionalization : Synthesis, Nanochemistry and Glycobiological Studies

    Författare :Lingquan Deng; Olof Ramström; Javier Rojo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbohydrates; Glycobiology; Carbohydrate-protein interactions; Perfluorophenylazide PFPA ; Photochemistry; Carbohydrate surface immobilization; Carbohydrate microarrays; Surface plasmon resonance SPR ; Quartz crystal microbalance QCM ; Atomic force microscopy AFM ; Glyconanomaterials; Concanavalin A Con A ; Cyanovirin-N CV-N ; 1-Glycosyl thiols; Mutarotation; 1-S-glycosylation; Stereocontrol;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis mainly deals with the development of photochemical approaches to immobilize carbohydrates on surfaces for glycobiological studies. These approaches have been incorporated into a number of state-of-the-art nanobio-platforms, including carbohydrate microarrays, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and glyconanomaterials. 2. 2. Redefining the essential molecular aspects that drive interactions between small molecules and G-quadruplex DNA

    Författare :Måns Andréasson; Erik Chorell; Anna Linusson Jonsson; Jan Kihlberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; G-Quadruplexes; DNA; Oncogenes; G4 ligands; heterocycles; macrocycles; organic synthesis; molecular interactions; rational compound design; medicinal chemistry.; medicinal chemistry; läkemedelskemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : G-Quadruplex (G4) structures are secondary nucleic acid structures located in guanine-rich regions of DNA and RNA sequences, involved in gene regulation and cellular maintenance. Efforts to target G4s in a therapeutic setting are scarce, mainly due to vague details about the binding interactions between the ligands and the G4 structure combined with the lack of emphasis on drug-like properties early in the ligand development process. 5. 5. Carbohydrate-Based Inhibitors of Pathogen Adhesion to Cell Surface Glycoconjugates

    Författare :Henrik C Hansen; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Galabiose analogs; Globotriose analogs; Escherichia coli; verotoxin; PapG adhesion; Streptococcus suis; Dendrimers; Multivalency; Amino-deoxy analogs; Organic chemistry; Inhibitor; Ceramide analogs; Glycoconjugates; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The fact that a growing number of pathogens develop resistance against traditional treatment is a growing medical problem. Infections, which until now have been harmless, might turn into life threatening diseases. These problems have led to an intensified search for alternative treatments. Analogs of cell surface glycoconjugates are an alternative. LÄS MER
