    Sammanfattning : The research on new materials is a primary driving force for progress in human society. One of the most significant research topic nowadays is the development of new functional materials for technological applications, like perovskite implemented in solar cells, and graphene as a representative for the new 2D materials family. 2. 2. Titania Nanoscale Films and Surfaces : Surface Science Investigation of Structure and Properties

    Författare :Davide Ragazzon; Anders Sandell; Anne Borg; Jason F. Weaver; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photoelectron spectroscopy; PES; XPS; scanning tunneling microscopy; STM; titania; titanium oxide; TiO2; Au 111 ; gold; water; H2O; rutile;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents surface science studies, investigating several aspects of titanium dioxide at the atomic scale. The greater part of this work is devoted to the preparation by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of titanium(IV) tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) of ultrathin TiO2 or TiOx films on Au(111). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Using Light to Probe Surface Electrochemical Processes

    Författare :Weronica Linpe; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrochemistry; X-ray methods; In situ; synchrotron radiation; Ex situ; Single crystal; polycrystalline; aluminium oxide; Au; Pd; Pt; Sn; Super duplex stainless steel.; Fysicumarkivet A:2021:Linpé;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis shows how various light-based in situ techniques can be used to follow different surface electrochemical processes such as electrochemical deposition into Nanoporous Anodic Aluminium Oxide (NP-AAO) templates and the surface structure of electrodes. Techniques based on both x-rays and visible light were used to follow surface structures and compositions, in situ. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Probing Atomic Scale Structure and Catalytic Properties of Cobalt Oxide Model Catalysts

    Författare :Alif Arman; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Nyckelord :catalysis; model systems; Co3O4 111 ; Co3O4 100 ; CoO 111 ; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; Scanning tunneling microscopy; Fysicumarkivet A:2017:Arman;

    Sammanfattning : Cobalt oxides are known to be active catalysts for a number of chemical reactions, but very little is known about the atomic scale processesresponsible for the activity. The research presented in this thesis is focused on obtaining an atomic scale understanding of the chemistry of wellcharacterizedcobalt oxide model catalyst surfaces consisting of pristine and defective CoO and Co3O4 thin films with the (111) and (100)terminations supported by Ag(100), Ir(100), and Au(111) single crystal surfaces. Sammanfattning : Burning fossil fuels leads to excess CO2 in the atmosphere, causing global warming, threatening civilisation and ecosystems worldwide. As a step in making the society fossil-independent, we need to replace oil, coal, and gas in the transportation sector with fuels originating from sustainable energy sources. LÄS MER
