  1. 6. Role of AKT/ PKB and 14-3-3 in the regulation of B cell receptor signaling and signalosome assembly

    Författare :Dara Mohammad; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : AKT/PKB is an oncogenic serine/threonine kinase regulated via the PI3K pathways. 14-3-3s represent a large group of adaptor proteins that are known to interact with a plethora of signaling proteins and regulate diverse signal transduction pathways. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Cisplatin-resistance and cell death in malignant pleural mesothelioma cells

    Författare :Veronica Janson; Kjell Grankvist; Roger Henriksson; Parviz Behnam-Motlagh; Anders Johansson; Boris Zhivotovsky; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; apoptosis; BH3-only proteins; caspase; cell morphology; potassium transport; protein kinase B PKB Akt ; signalling pathways; time; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is an aggressive, treatment-resistant tumour. Cisplatin (cis-diamminedichloroplatinum (II)) is the best single-agent chemotherapy for MPM, but platinum-based combination therapies give the best overall response rates. However, cisplatin use is limited by resistance and severe side effects. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Role of inositol pyrophosphates in pancreatic beta cell function

    Författare :Subu Surendran Rajasekaran; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Inositol pyrophosphates are high energy diphosphate containing molecules that are ubiquitous in eukaryotic cells. They have been implicated in diverse cellular processes ranging from DNA repair, telomere length regulation, ribosome synthesis, cell cycle regulation and apoptosis to osmoregulation, phosphate homeostasis, insulin sensitivity, vesicle trafficking, cytoskeletal rearrangement and exocytosis. 4. 9. ADP regulation of insulin secretion and beta-cell apoptosis

    Författare :Chanyuan Tan; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; P2Y; β-cell; ADP; insulin; apoptosis; autocrine; ectonucleotidase;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this dissertation were to investigate the effects of extracellular purines on insulin secretion, and apoptosis in mouse pancreatic islets and β-cells; to examine if high glucose and free fatty acids induces β-cell apoptosis via autocrine effects of ADP acting on the P2Y13 receptor; and to investigate the modulation of extracellular purines in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) through ectonucleotidase or ATP release under the effect of high glucose. The expression of the ADP receptors P2Y1 and P2Y13 were shown in both mouse pancreatic islets and isolated β-cells using real-time PCR quantification. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Regulation of intracellular signaling events that modulate insulin action

    Författare :Silvia Gogg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; insulin; insulin resistance; EGF; Gab 1; insulin receptor substrate; PI3-kinase; ; Thiazolidinediones; PPARã; insulin signaling; glucose transport; adipose tissue; â-cell.;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin regulates several mechanisms of fundamental importance to the body involving glucose, fat andprotein metabolism. Insulin resistance in skeletal muscle, liver and adipose tissue promotes an increaseddemand for insulin secretion. LÄS MER
