  1. 1. B cells in Autoimmunity : Studies of Complement Receptor 1 & 2 and FcγRIIb in Autoimmune Arthritis

    Författare :Kajsa Prokopec; Sandra Kleinau; Anna Erdei; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; B cells; complement receptors; fc gamma receptor IIb; autoimmune arthritis; rheumatoid arthritis; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : B cells are normally regulated to prevent activation against self-proteins through tolerance mechanisms.  However, occasionally there is a break in tolerance and B cells can become self-reactive, which might lead to the development of autoimmune disease. LÄS MER

  2. 2. INITIATION OF EXPERIMENTAL ACUTE PANCREATITIS AND MODULATION OF INFLAMMATORY RESPONSE

    Författare :Jakob B Axelsson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nuclear factor kappa B; neutrophils; monocytes; acute pancreatitis; ductal cells; active site-inhibited factor seven; heparan sulfate; lipopolysaccharide; innate immune response;

    Sammanfattning : Heparan sulfate (HS), a substance common in the extracellular matrix on epithelial cells is present in the pancreas, lining the duct lumen. During pathological conditions, we propose that it can be shed from the ECM and bind to receptors on the cell surface, thus triggering an inflammatory response, which if excessive can cause acute pancreatitis (AP). 3. 3. Isolation and characterization of adult neural stem cells

    Författare :Clas B Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Intermediate filaments; GFAP; nestin; scar formation; regeneration; rodent and human neural stem cells; multipotency.;

    Sammanfattning : Injury to the central nervous system (CNS) is one of man's most handicapping situations resulting in severe functional impairment and in some cases a vegetative state where life is supported artificially. The brain and spinal cord, constituting the CNS, have been viewed for decades as having limited capacity of regeneration with no neurogenesis in the adult. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Approaches to analyses of cytotoxic cells. And studies of their role in H. pylori infection

    Författare :Josef Azem; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Helicobacter pylori; mucosal immunology; stomach; duodenum; asymptomatic; duodenal ulcer; gastric adenocarcinoma; NK cells; T cells; B cells; dendritic cells; cytotoxic;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori infection causes chronic gastritis that may progress to peptic ulcers or gastric adenocarcinoma and thereby cause major world-wide health problems. Previous studies have shown that CD4+ T cells and the production of the cytokine IFN- × are important components of the immune response to H. pylori in humans. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Trafficking of Human Dendritic Cells and B cells in Helicobacter pylori-induced Gastritis

    Författare :Malin Hansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Helicobacter pylori; migration; homing; dendritic cells; B cells; gastric mucosa;

    Sammanfattning : Infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori is widespread throughout the world, and is associated with development of gastric and duodenal ulcer disease as well as gastric adenocarcinoma and mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma. The infection generally leads to a large infiltration of immune cells, among them dendrite cells (DC) and IgA-secreting cells. LÄS MER
