1. Evolving the Methodology for Detection of Primary DNA Damage : Development, adaptation and assessment of the single cell gel electrophoresis (comet) assay
Sammanfattning : Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is one of the most important molecules in nature. It is the fundamental carrier of evolutionary information and constitutes the genetic blueprint of all living organisms. Being the sole source of information, it is vital for the cell to transmit the correct genetic information from generation to generation. LÄS MER
2. Clothing Evaporative Resistance: Its Measurements and Application in Prediction of Heat Strain
Sammanfattning : Clothing evaporative resistance is one of the most important inputs for both the modelling and for standards dealing with thermal comfort and heat stress. It might be determined on guarded hotplates, on sweating manikins or even on human subjects. LÄS MER
3. The heat is on : Evaluation of workplace heat stress under a changing climate
Sammanfattning : Background: There are several scientific indications that increasing heat due to climate change is going to become the next big societal and scientific challenge. Climate change is recognized as a significant public health threat. However, there is a lack of research on its impacts on occupational safety and health. LÄS MER
4. Phthalate adsorption on gamma-alumina: a spectroscopic study
Sammanfattning : Adsorption of phthalic acid/phthalate has been investigated on anodically oxidized aluminium foils - used in wet electrolytic capacitors -, by different spectroscopic methods like UV, infrared, Raman and surface- enhanced Raman spectroscopy. In addition to the capacitor foils the adsorption was studied utilizing a high surface area, synthetic Y-aluminium oxide powder as a model material. LÄS MER
5. Textile-enabled Bioimpedance Instrumentation for Personalised Health Monitoring Applications
Sammanfattning : A growing number of factors, including the costs, technological advancements, an ageing population, and medical errors are leading industrialised countries to invest in research on alternative solutions to improving their health care systems and increasing patients’ life quality. Personal Health System (PHS) solutions envision the use of information and communication technologies that enable a paradigm shift from the traditional hospital-centred healthcare delivery model toward a preventive and person-centred approach.
