  1. 1. Programmed Cell Death in Xylem Development

    Detta är en avhandling från Plant Physiology Department - Umeå Plant Science Centre

    Författare :Laetitia Charleen Courtois-Moreau; Umeå universitet.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PCD Programmed Cell Death ; Xylem; Apoptosis; Autophagy; Secondary Cell Walls; Microscopy; Microarrays; Comet Assay; TUNEL Assay; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Concerns about climate changes and scarcity of fossil fuels are rising. Hence wood is becoming an attractive source of renewable energy and raw material and these new dimensions have prompted increasing interest in wood formation in trees, in both the scientific community and wider public. 2. 2. Application of Padlock Probe Based Nucleic Acid Analysis In Situ

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Sara Henriksson; Uppsala universitet.; [2010]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Padlock probe; rolling circle amplification; single cell gel electrophoresis assay; comet assay; Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever virus; MEDICINE Morphology; cell biology; pathology Pathology Molecular medicine; MEDICIN Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi Patologi Molekylär medicin; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The great variation displayed by nucleic acid molecules in human cells, and the continuous discovery of their impact on life, consequently require continuous refinements of molecular analysis techniques. Padlock probes and rolling circle amplification offer single nucleotide discrimination in situ, a high signal-to-noise ratio and localized detection within cells and tissues. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Health of municipal sewage workers Studies of cancer incidence, biomarkers of carcinogenicity and genotoxicity, and self reported symptoms

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Lennart Friis; Uppsala universitet.; [2001]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical sciences; Abdominal symptoms; alkaline single cell gel assay; asthma; cancer; comet assay; dyspepsia; genotoxic exposure; Helicobacter pylori; IBS; occupational epidemiology; respiratory symptoms; sewage workers; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; arbets- och miljömedicin; Occupational and Environmental Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The occupational exposures of sewage workers are complex and variable, and include a great variety of biological and chemical agents. Previous research has focused mostly on infections and various symptoms among sewage workers, e.g. abdominal and respiratory symptoms. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The effect on chromosomal stability of some dietary constituents

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Louise Durling; Uppsala universitet.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :Biology; Genotoxicity; chromosomal stability; heterocyclic amines; furan; HMF; folic acid; micronucleus test; comet assay; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : When food is heated, a vast number of compounds are formed. Some of these are known to be toxic. Among these are furan, HMF, PhIP, IQ, and MeIQx, the subjects of this thesis. All these compounds are known or suspected carcinogens but the detailed mechanisms behind their carcinogenicity have not yet been fully examined. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Chemically Induced DNA Damage in Extended-term Cultures of Human Lymphocytes

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Maria Andersson; Uppsala universitet.; [2006]
    Nyckelord :Toxicology; Comet assay; DNA-damaging agents; DNA repair; Extended-term Cultures of Human Lymphocytes; Genotoxicity; Induced DNA damage; In vitro; Mouse Lymphoma Cells; Primary Cell Cultures; Reactive Oxygen Species; Toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : Generation of DNA damage is regarded to be an important initial event in the development cancer. Consequently, a battery of tests have been developed to detect different types of genotoxic effects in order to be able to predict the potential genotoxicity and mutagenicity of chemicals, including both pharmaceutical drugs and various types of environmental and occupational agents, as well as dietary factors.
