    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to expand the knowledge base for a better understanding of how persons diagnosed with dementia or stroke become users of assistive technology for cognitive support in everyday life. In Study I, identified difficulties in everyday life related to cognition were matched with a specific type of modifiable context-aware assistive technology with the aim of identifying what types of tasks the assistive technology could support.     Sammanfattning : Purpose: The overall aims of the thesis were to investigate the safety, efficacy, and pharmacokinetics of dexamphetamine (d-amph) after cerebral infarct, and the effects of different amounts of physiotherapy in combination with d-amph on recovery, early after cerebral infarct in patients with severe stroke. Patients and methods: The thesis is based on three studies on patients in the department of Neurology, Karolinska Hospital, Sweden, and on one meta-analysis based on data collected from previously published studies.
