  1. 11. Sagittal synostosis - surgical outcomes and long-term follow up

    Författare :Sara Fischer; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sagittal synostosis; craniofacial surgery; spring-assisted surgery; intracranial volume; cephalic index;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to evaluate and compare surgical outcomes in patients with sagittal synostosis operated with the most commonly used surgical methods in Sweden: craniotomy combined with springs, pi-plasty, or H-craniectomy. Paper I is a systematic review that identified the evidence showing that spring-assisted surgery is as efficient as more extensive cranioplasties to be of very low quality, thereby emphasizing the need for more rigorous studies. 2. 12. Dynamic principles in craniofacial surgery. Expander elements in craniofacial surgery

    Författare :Fredrik Gewalli; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Scaphocephaly; Brachycephaly; Dynamic cranioplasty; Pi-procedure; DCB; Expander elements; Distraction; Mental development; ICP; Cephalometry; Cephalic index;

    Sammanfattning : Lannelongue & Lane described strip removal of ossified skull sutures in craniosynostosis in the 1890s. More complex osteotomies with bone grafting were developed during the 1960s. Dynamic techniques, utilizing force to direct the growing brain for skull reshaping was introduced by Jane 1978 with the p-plasty for sagittal synostosis. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Rarity in boreal stream: patterns, causes and consequences

    Författare :Per-Ola Hoffsten; Bo W. Svensson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; Central Sweden; site occupancy; dispersal limitation; natural disturbances; recolonization; flight-morphology; metapopulation; habitat stability; spring specialists; Crunoecia irrorata; niche limitation; Isogenus nubecula; nestedness; longitudinal distribution; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; zooekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Patterns of site occupancy among boreal stream insects were studied in central Sweden with focus on sparsely distributed species and the role of dispersal and niche limitations.In the study of dispersal limitation, I found that effects of an extraordinarily harsh winter in small to medium-sized streams were strongest in sites located in small streams and far from lake outlets. 4. 14. Numerical and Experimental Studies of Deployment Dynamics of Space Webs and CubeSat Booms

    Författare :Huina Mao; Gunnar Tibert; Arne Nordmark; Anders Eriksson; Keith Seffen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Deployable structure; Space web; Centrifugal force deployment; Deployable boom; Bi-stable tape spring; Fiber-reinforced composite; Viscoelasticity; Aerospace Engineering; Flyg- och rymdteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, experiments and simulations are performed to study the deployment dynamics of space webs and space booms, focusing on the deployment and stabilization phases of the space web and the behavior of the bi-stable tape spring booms after long-term stowage.The space web, Suaineadh, was launched onboard the sounding rocket REXUS-12 from the Swedish launch base Esrange in Kiruna on 19 March 2012. 5. 15. Contact stiffness in tyre/road noise modelling and speed dependencies of tyre/road noise generation mechanisms

    Författare :Julia Winroth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Sammanfattning : Tools for simulating tyre/road noise are highly valuable in the efforts to limit the negative consequences of road traffic noise.A numerical tyre/road noise simulation tool was in this study used to investigate how the contact stiffness parameter affects the predicted tyre/road noise.
