  1. 16. Symbiotic and pathogenic factors in plant-microbe interaction: Structural basis of C-glycoside metabolism and lipoprotein transport in bacteria

    Författare :Valentina Furlanetto; Christina Divne; Mats Sandgren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant-Bacteria Interaction; Symbiotic Communication; C-Glycosylated Compounds; Enzymatic Deglycosylation; Pathogenic Interactions; Lipoprotein Localization; Lol System; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Sammanfattning : The communication between plants and bacteria involves a complex chemical signaling network that mediates responses to various biotic and abiotic stresses, as well as establishing symbiotic relationships between different organisms.The first part of the thesis focuses on a mechanism for symbiotic communication between plants and bacteria and more specifically on how C-glycosylated aromatic polyketide compounds produced by plants can be used as a mechanism for plants to communicate with beneficial bacteria. 2. 17. Spatial and temporal ecology of oak-associated fungal communities

    Författare :Maria Faticov; Ayco Tack; Peter Hambäck; Paula Baptista; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; abiotic and biotic forces; climate warming; community ecology; foliar fungal community; host genotype; plant microbiome; powdery mildew; seasonal dynamics; warming-by-genotype interaction; Quercus robur; soil fungal community; spatial patterns; ekologi och evolution; Ecology and Evolution;

    Sammanfattning : Plants host a large diversity of microorganisms, which includes fungi, bacteria and archaea. Among these, fungi are highly diverse, and known to play a vital role in plant health and in regulation of the essential ecosystem functions. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Theoretical studies of blue copper proteins

    Författare :Mats H M Olsson; Beräkningskemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum chemistry; metal-thiolate bonds; axial ligation; electron transfer proteins; reduction potential; reorganisation energy; Cu II ; Cu I ; strain; Induced-rack theory; Entatic state theory; cytochrome c oxidase; CuA; nitrite reductase; azurin; Blue copper proteins; plastocyanin; B3LYP; CASPT2; Soil Science; agricultural hydrology; Lantbrukshydrologi; marklära;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a critical investigation is presented about the role of mechanical strain for the electron-transfer properties of the blue copper proteins. It has been found that the structure of a realistic model complex of the oxidised blue-copper active site, optimised in vacuum with the B3LYP method, has the same trigonal cupric geometry as in the protein. 4. 19. The behaviour of mica-rich aggregates under the temperate climate conditions

    Författare :Evgeny Novikov; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Geoteknik; Soil Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : In regions of temperate climate the destructive influence of frost action such as frost heave in winter and thaw weakening in spring are the main contributors to severe deterioration of the pavement structure. A number of studies on construction aggregates and field observations of road failures, especially caused by seasonal fluctuations of temperature, have revealed a negative influence of unbound mica-rich rock aggregates on the service life of road construction. 5. 20. The late blight pathogen, Phytophthora infestans : interaction with the potato plant and inoculum sources

    Författare :Anna-Karin Widmark; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The oomycete, Phytophthora infestans, is one of the most important plant pathogens worldwide. This thesis focuses on the late blight pathogen and its host, potato (Solanum tuberosum), and the interaction between these two organisms. Resistance to P. LÄS MER
