11. Tactile sensing of prostate cancer : a resonance sensor method evaluated using human prostate tissue in vitro
Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer is the most frequent type of cancer in men in Europe and the USA. The methods presently used to detect and diagnose prostate cancer are inexact, and new techniques are needed. LÄS MER
12. Fine needle aspiration diagnosis of spindle cell tumors of soft tissue, including the use of ancillary methods, and correlation with clinical data
Sammanfattning : Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is gaining increased popularity in the diagnosis of soft tissue lesions. FNAC used as a primary examination method to obtain a morphologic diagnosis, has been part of the diagnostic work-up of patients admitted to the Musculoskeletal Tumor Center of the Lund University Hospital since 1972. 13. Soft Tissue Aspects of the Shoulder Joint
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study different aspects of the soft tissues of the shoulder joint. The variation in the quality of the tendons and ligaments can be explained by genetic factors. LÄS MER
14. On the tissue response to hafnium, titanium and thin calcium phosphate coatings
Sammanfattning : Background: Titanium (Ti) is the gold standard material for load-bearing implants. Although high success rates have been reported for Ti implants, failures do occur. Alternative materials/surface modifications might further improve the performances of Ti implants, particularly in situations with non-optimal local tissue conditions. LÄS MER
15. Genetic Characterization of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors
Sammanfattning : Bone and soft tissue tumors (BSTT) constitute a heterogeneous group of neoplasms of mesenchymal and neuroectodermal origin. Although many BSTT are rare, it has become clear that BSTT are characterized by recurrent acquired chromosomal aberrations, and the general aim of this thesis have been to apply molecular genetic and molecular cytogenetic techniques to further characterize recurrent breakpoints and deletions, and to search for candidate target genes.
