16. Designing Trustworthy Autonomous Systems
Sammanfattning : The design of autonomous systems is challenging and ensuring their trustworthiness can have different meanings, such as i) ensuring consistency and completeness of the requirements by a correct elicitation and formalization process; ii) ensuring that requirements are correctly mapped to system implementations so that any system behaviors never violate its requirements; iii) maximizing the reuse of available components and subsystems in order to cope with the design complexity; and iv) ensuring correct coordination of the system with its environment. Several techniques have been proposed over the years to cope with specific problems. LÄS MER

18. Reforming a publicly owned monopoly : costs and incentives in railway maintenance
Sammanfattning : The railway system is often considered to be an industry where a monopoly occurs “naturally”, which can explain the public ownership and the use of regulations. However, railways in Europe have been subject to reforms during the last three decades. LÄS MER
19. Towards Deep-learning-based Autonomous Navigation in the Short-loading Cycle
Sammanfattning : Earth-moving machines, such as wheel loaders, are a type of heavy-duty machinery used within the construction industry to perform vital tasks, such as digging, transporting, and mining applications. One of these tasks is the short-loading cycle, where an operator manoeuvres the wheel loader to move material from a pile to the tipping body of a dump truck, through navigation, scooping, and dumping. 20. On natural and drug-induced reward : genetic, biochemical and behavioral comparisons
Sammanfattning : Work in this thesis compares natural and drug- induced reward at genetic, biochemical and behavioral levels with the objective to obtain information about key mechanisms underlying reward and addiction, and improve the understanding of compulsive elements that characterize addiction. Surveys among committed human runners have described running as addictive. LÄS MER
