  1. 26. Systems Biology Based Approaches to Identify Biomarkers in Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis

    Författare :Hui Wang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glucocorticoids; Seasonal allergic rhinitis; Biomarkers; Gene expression microarray analysis; Proteomics; Multivariate analysis; Pathway analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Glucocorticoids (GC) are the most effective anti-inflammatory treatment for seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR). However, a few patients with SAR show poor response to GC treatment. Hence, there is a clinical need to find biomarkers to predict and monitor treatment response. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Allergic airway inflammation and bone marrow eosinophilopoiesis. Modulation by cytokines

    Författare :Lin-Ling Zhao; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; allergy; airway inflammation; cytokine; eosinophil; eosinophilopoiesis;

    Sammanfattning : Accumulation of eosinophils in the airways and lung parenchyma is one of the hallmarks of allergic airway inflammation. This cellular inflammatory response is likely to involve the release of eosinophils from peripheral storage pools and possibly cause production of eosinophils in the bone marrow (BM). LÄS MER

  3. 28. Chlamydia pneumoniae in Children - Epidemiology and Clinical Implications

    Författare :Erik Normann; Björn Wettergren; Håkan Gnarpe; Claes Sundelin; Birger Trollfors; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrics; allergy; asthma; children; Chlamydia pneumoniae; immunohistochemistry; microimmunofluorescence; polymerase chain reaction; respiratory tract infection; Pediatrik; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Chlamydia pneumoniae is a human respiratory tract pathogen. Seroepidemiological studies indicate that C. pneumoniae infection is most common in school-aged children and infrequently detected in younger children.The aims of this study were to further elucidate the prevalence of C. 4. 29. Early steps in the biogenesis of the bc1 complex in yeast mitochondria : The role of the Cbp3-Cbp6 complex in cytochrome b synthesis and assembly

    Författare :Steffi Gruschke; Martin Ott; Dennis Winge; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mitochondria; respiratory chain assembly; bc1 complex; mitochondrial gene expression; translational regulation; hemylation; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The inner membrane of mitochondria harbors the complexes of the respiratory chain and the ATP synthase, which perform the key metabolic process oxidative phosphorylation. These complexes are composed of subunits from two different genetic origins: the majority of constituents is synthesized on cytosolic ribosomes and imported into mitochondria, but a handful of proteins, which represent core catalytic subunits, are encoded in the organellar DNA and translated on mitochondrial ribosomes. 5. 30. Acute febrile illness in preschool children in Zanzibar - Infectious aetiologies, diagnosis and treatment

    Författare :Kristina Elfving; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Children; Infections; Low-income country; Tanzania; malaria; pneumonia; antibiotics; fever; diagnosis; polymerase chain reaction; preschool; influenza virus; Respiratory syncytial virus; diarrhoea; norovirus; dengue virus;

    Sammanfattning : Background: A majority of the three million children in Africa that do not survive their fifth birthday die from infections that often start as a seemingly uncomplicated febrile illness. Primary health care workers frequently encounter febrile children with a negative malaria rapid diagnostic test (mRDT), in particular in places like Zanzibar with a considerable decline in malaria prevalence.
