16. Combined sulphonylurea and insulin treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus : metabolic and electrophysiological studies
Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes is a prevalent disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose levels and associated with increased morbidity from micro- and macrovascular complications. Lowering of blood glucose has been shown to reduce the incidence of such complications. LÄS MER
17. Development of Automated Algorithms for Epicardial Adipose Tissue Analysis in Computed Tomography and their Application in Population Based Research
Sammanfattning : The epicardial adipose tissue (EAT), which surrounds the heart and is separated from other tissues only by the thin layers of the pericardium, has enjoyed intense research for the past decades. Increased inflammatory activity in the EAT in coronary artery disease has, together with associated volumetric expansion of the EAT and changes in its radiodensity supported theories that the EAT might play a role in the pathogenesis of coronary atherosclerosis or mirror its progression better than traditional risk factors. 18. Electrocardiographic predictors of clinical outcome in ST-elevation myocardial infarction
Sammanfattning : Malignant ventricular arrhythmias, particularly ventricular fibrillation (VF), remain an important contributor to mortality in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The size of myocardial injury is one more important factor influencing the prognosis of STEMI patients. LÄS MER
19. Long QT syndrome : studies of diagnostic methods
Sammanfattning : Background: The Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) is a hereditary heart disease with risk of malignant ventricular arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death. Despite our increased knowledge about genotype and phenotype correlation we still rely on the 12-lead ECG for assessment of the QT interval and the T-wave morphology for diagnosis and risk stratification. 20. A study of the cell adhesions molecules, E-cadherin and C-CAM, and the intermediate filaments, nestin, in craniofacial and tooth development
Sammanfattning : Cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) are involved in cell migration, morphogenesis, and cell differentiation within the embryo, and later in the maintenance of the multicellular organism. The aim of the present investigation was to analyze and compare the distribution of the CAMs, E-cadherin and C-CAM, during odontogenesis and palate formation, and furthermore, to analyze the expression of the intermediate filament (IF), nestin, in odontogenesis.
