  1. 1. Cell adhesion molecules during odontogenesis and tooth-related diseases

    Författare :Robert Heymann; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cell adhesion molecules play essential roles in the development and disease of tooth and oral structures, as well as in the maintenance of adult tissue structure/function. It has been shown that different types of cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) play an important part in craniofacial development when ectomesenchymal cells migrate from the neural list to the primitive oral cavity, giving rise to the palatal processes and tooth germs. 2. 2. A study of the cell adhesions molecules, E-cadherin and C-CAM, and the intermediate filaments, nestin, in craniofacial and tooth development

    Författare :Catharina Terling; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :cell adhesion molecules; epithelial fusion; C-CAM; E-cadherin; junctional epithelium; nestin; odontogenesis; palate;

    Sammanfattning : Cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) are involved in cell migration, morphogenesis, and cell differentiation within the embryo, and later in the maintenance of the multicellular organism. The aim of the present investigation was to analyze and compare the distribution of the CAMs, E-cadherin and C-CAM, during odontogenesis and palate formation, and furthermore, to analyze the expression of the intermediate filament (IF), nestin, in odontogenesis. 3. 3. Nerve fibres in relation to gingiva, tooth germs and teeth in the polyphyodont cichlid Tilapia mariae

    Författare :Fredrik Tuisku; Kaj Fried; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : In the late 19th century Retzius observed the presence of nerve fibres in goldfish tooth pulps. However, later studies on the relationship between the dentition and its innervation in non-mammalian vertebrates and its use in experimental research are rare. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genetic, magnetic resonance imaging and body fluid biomarker associations with severity of multiple sclerosis

    Författare :Thomas Moridi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Multiple sclerosis is a chronic and progressive neuroinflammatory disease that leads to demyelination and neurodegeneration in the central nervous system (CNS). Previous research has identified a wide range of environmental, lifestyle and genetic factors which increase MS susceptibility. LÄS MER
