41. Studies on the regulation of human skeletal muscle lipolysis in vivo
Sammanfattning : Intramuscular triglyceride deposits are a significant energy source, and are considered to be of importance in the pathogenesis of skeletal muscle insulin resistance. In contrast to adipose tissue, the lipolytic process in skeletal muscle is not well characterised. LÄS MER
42. GABA and human spermatozoa : characterization and regulation of GABA transport proteins
Sammanfattning : The present project aimed at investigating the interaction between GABA and human spermatozoa under in vitro conditions. Our initial hypothesis was that human spermatozoa had specific binding proteins for GABA and that the binding of GABA to such binding sites could affect sperm function. LÄS MER
43. Expression, regulation and functional aspects of the NPY Y1 receptors in rat
Sammanfattning : The distribution of the NPY receptor subtypes, mainly of Y1 and Y2 receptors, has been studied extensively by others employing pharmacological ligand binding techniques. The major aim of this thesis was to study in detail the distribution of Y1-receptors (Y1Rs) in rat and mouse with antisera against the C-terminus (CT) of the rat Y1R using an immunohistochemical technique with enhanced sensitivity (tyramide signal amplification = TSA). 44. Studies of cell-on-chip technology and basophil regulation for improved allergy diagnostics
Sammanfattning : Allergic diseases affect approximately 30% of adults and has an impact on both the individual’s quality of life as well as an economic impact on society. Two effector cells involved in allergic disease are mast cells and basophils, where basophils are more readily available in blood and therefore of great interest when studying allergy. LÄS MER
45. The regulation of muscle interstitial insulin, nutrients and blood flow in insulin resistant models. An investigation using the euglycemic insulin clamp and microdialysis techniques
Sammanfattning : Insulin resistance, mainly located to the skeletal muscle tissue, is one prominent feature in thedevelopment of non insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) and further, associated withcardiovascular diseases. In this context the importance of blood flow for insulin sensitivity has beensuggested by regulating the delivery of insulin and nutrients to the target cells. LÄS MER
