  1. 1. The regulation of muscle interstitial insulin, nutrients and blood flow in insulin resistant models. An investigation using the euglycemic insulin clamp and microdialysis techniques

    Författare :Maria Niklasson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; insulin resistance; skeletal muscle; glucose uptake; transcapillary transport; interstitial fluid; euglycemic insulinclamp; microdialysis; blood flow; vasodilation;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin resistance, mainly located to the skeletal muscle tissue, is one prominent feature in thedevelopment of non insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) and further, associated withcardiovascular diseases. In this context the importance of blood flow for insulin sensitivity has beensuggested by regulating the delivery of insulin and nutrients to the target cells. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Circulating proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans during critical illness

    Författare :Axel Nelson; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; heparan sulphate; glycocalyx; hyaluronic acid; syndecan; permeability; antimicrobial;

    Sammanfattning : The endothelial glycocalyx is the carbohydrate rich inner layer of the blood vessels. Important components of the glycocalyx are the proteoglycans with their attached glycosaminoglycans. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Studies of the adipose tissue in insulin resistance with microdialysis

    Författare :Madelene Sandqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes is characterized by a combination of insulin resistance and an impaired insulin secretion. Theprevalence of the disease has taken epidemic proportions, and it is therefore of great concern to characterize itspathophysiology, as well as to identify individuals with increased risk for the disease, enabling to take measuresfor prevention and cure.
